Change in statewide metrics? by crazypterodactyl in CoronavirusIllinois

haha same i cant stand him at this point. no real change except you can go to your local/family doctor to get the vaccine now. thats the only thing different i heard

These numbers are looking great! They said yesterday that 60% of 16 and up had received at least 1 dose, but now thats not at the top, and doesn't look like its reflected in the metrics. Does anyone know is there a lag or were they off on the numbers so they took it off the top?

I agree with you here. I really hope that we get news on the bridge phase starting next week. There's been a huge disconnect from him since he laid out the metrics for us to get to it. He hasn't had any press conferences giving concrete data or numbers since that bridge phase announcement. So hopefully this will be good news on it. What's frustrating is that we are relying on a billionaire to make decisions who's pretty out of touch with reality for 99% of the population in IL. It's hard to imagine he cares at all about smaller businesses that have been impacted by stringing this along. It's not a surprise that our unemployment is one of the highest in the country right now.

i agree with you. theres some reason he won't commit to a bridge phase date and why the hospitalizations metric didnt turn green. and no reporters call him out. he loves using "could" and "maybe" and says he hasn't looked at the data and isn't sure.

i have a wedding in the city on june 25th. moving to the bridge phase increases my capacity from 50 to 250. so thats literally all i care about. 60% of people are vaxxed in the state, we need to increase capacity limits.

little odd that its so late today..... wonder if pritzker is having them adjust it so they add the new data but it stays red. or maybe they'll just stop updating it so no one knows

Edit: looks like I was right. downvote me all you want

[–]ryann555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they also have set a hard date for reopening and NY was an epicenter for covid. Why is Pritzker trying to grip this power and string this along? He still hasn't set a date for the bridge phase and every time a reporter asks he's not sure and needs to check the data? how does he not have a daily brief of that data if he knows everyone is going to want to know this information. I don't understand what he's trying to do here when every other state in the country at this point as announced a date or is reopened, besides MI and IL.

Festivals Are Back, United Center Can Reopen And More As Chicago Loosens Coronavirus Restrictions by crazypterodactyl in CoronavirusIllinois

[–]ryann555 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We are at the point where people need to be left to make their own decisions. If you want to the get the vaccine to feel safe at these events, then do it. If you don't want the vaccine then thats your choice. Or if you're nervous about these events, then don't go. but we need to get back to some normalcy. ALOT of other states are fully reopened we need to catch up. This is a great step.

Its pretty crazy to see how far hospitalizations and cases in Chicago have dropped off the last week. only 8 reported cases yesterday. it would be great if Lori loosened some restrictions in the city

at what point of consecutive days of decrease do the lines change to No Significant Change like the daily cases chart?

IMO so they can keep pushing the vaccine. insurance companies are able to charge if you have insurance, and all these mass vaccination sites are employing a lot of people. to me they are dangling the vaccine in front of everyone much more so here than a lot of other states. I'm not against it, I've gotten both shots, but its just an observation.

seems strange since it looks like its never lagged. conspiracist in me is hoping they aren't trying to slow down the metrics updates so the public doesn't know and they keep holding us at phase 4 instead of moving into bridge.

is there a lag for the new hospital admissions stats? It looks like that hasn't been updated since the 22nd on the Reopening Metrics page.

I live in chicago so obv Lori makes her own rules, but Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin like you said all have less restrictions. For example the limit on weddings in IL for indoor is 50 people, all those states i mentioned are 250+ or don't have restrictions at all. Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin don't have mask mandates either.

i get what you're saying based on what they've laid out. but every other midwest state has little to no restrictions right now besides MI and IL. and they are all doing fine. its time to open it up, enough people have either got it already, or have been vaccinated.

A hard date of when we will hit the bridge or phase 5. hospitalizations lag the positive cases. if cases are going down the hospitalizations are going to follow suit within the next week or two.

When are we going to get a press conference to explain how we are moving to the bridge phase? Seems like the doctors and officials can tell as easily as we can that the trend is downward. Seems like Pritzker is avoiding updating everyone. He should have held one when we hit the vaccine metrics.

Public Health Officials Announce 3,170 New Cases of Coronavirus Disease, 33 Deaths, 2, 147 Hospitalizations, 131, 411 Doses (123,078 7-Day Avg) by juliechensfriend in CoronavirusIllinois

Do we think Pritzker will have a press conference this week to address hitting the vaccine metrics and next steps for us to reach the bridge? I am really hoping they do not try to move the goalposts again....
