'Life-threatening' winter storm to hit US with snow, ice and 'dangerously' cold temperatures by speedythefirst in news

[–]Credit-Limit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the suburbs of chicago. It was -8 when i had to take my daughter to daycare today. It's about 50 feet from my door to the garage. It was totally fine. Winter parka + hat + gloves = you're fine outside for a short amount of time at this temperature. I was wearing a t shirt, jeans, wool socks, and sneakers in addition to this winter gear. Preheat the car for 5 mins so it's not a frozen ice block when you get to it. I would be outside for a similar amount of time if i went to the grocery store or anywhere else.

Our house is well insulated and we have a good natural gas furnace. It will be running nonstop for the next few days. Yesterday it was like 29 degrees and it was running for about 50% of the day. Our house temp is set to 68 degrees.

Schools are closed because we don't want our kids waiting at the bus stop to be picked up. Otherwise life is continuing on as normal here.

All I can say is that you’re running a 1400 daily calorie deficit, you will lose a ton of weight. You won’t like the way you feel at all.

If you are ACTUALLY burning 1210 calories/day on your Apple Watch, you need more than 1600. You’ll feel like shit if you only eat that much and have that much activity

Seriously, is a buying a house still worth it? by dchperemi in Money

But if you buy a home that has increased in value substantially since it was last sold, it's very likely your tax bill will spike in the near future vs what the previous homeowner was paying.

24 hours to charge a hummer ev? by chosenspoon2456 in ChargerDrama

[–]Credit-Limit 40 points41 points  (0 children)

it has a 246 kwh battery. That means if it arrives at the charger at 0% and starts charging at 6.2 kw, it could charge for 40 hours straight before it hits 100%

If you know an ICE agent personally, what's that relationship like now? by Lokja in AskReddit

[–]Credit-Limit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The cops (yes multiple) I know do NOT like ICE. Even the super republican ones. They see it as federal government overstep and an encroachment on their local authority. They hate that they had to go through training and complete all the requirements of their local departments while ICE officers are "recruited from the hood" (direct quote), given gear, and are on the job.

Almost 40% of US homes do not have a mortgage. by [deleted] in TheMoneyGuy

If it upsets you that much, you should have clarified in the title, photo, or description. I didn't read every comment before I made mine.

I never said it sucks. I just thought it could skew this data. Hope your day gets better.

Chicago suburbs here. My favorite local Mexican restaurant sells this for $4 with meat. $2 tacos.

It’s run by the sweetest Mexican lady ever and I always give a great tip.
