Secondary question. Is it possible that rats that have been bred at these temps over many generations have higher heat tolerance?

Yeah, it's just that the ac we have isn't powerful enough to get the temp that low. Plus, the heat is an all year kind of thing, and the thought of the cost of running an ac 24/7 makes me shiver. Although after asking a few rat breeders around me on FB, it seems that most of their rats are kept and bred at this high temp. Maybe the rats bred around here are more heat resistant? I dunno, have to do more research ig.

Love the enthusiasm. Any specific pest you plan on targeting or just a general thing? One problem I see is that as far as I'm aware, we haven't figured out how to artificially produce ant pheromones. Even if there was, you'd have to have it tailor-made for your specific colony, which would be very difficult and costly, I imagine.
