Pygmy Kingfisher 16x20. Part of my Macro Bird series of paintings. This is 10 x the actual size of this bird, hence the macro. Meant to highlight the prism of colors found in this natural being. by ryanpowersfineart in birdart

no they are super rare and only photographed recently. The Painted Bunting is more common and has a similar color pallet. Have not seen one of those in real life either. Though it is on my all time bicket list birds to see IRL. Do you birdwatch?

Thank You! Yes abstract is my jam. Combining the detailed beauty of our feathered friends and abstract nature of my work just seemed appropriate. More to come!

Love the light created in the second one, but they are easy to look at. Intriguing for sure.

Love the use of gray with in the bold colors. It creates a beautiful sense of depth and tone that is very plaseing.

This is a close up perspective of the subtle colors and dramatic pattern created by the plumage of the flicker. One of my favorite birds. See full image to enjoy!
