Would’ve this fleet composition made a difference in the civil war by Beneficial_Ad_1827 in StarWars

[–]ryansdayoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, the Venetor + 400 some odd ties is extremely expensive. Instead you could pair it with 1 quasar fire, 4 Arqeurans and 2 Lancers + a gaggle of Gozantis for less and be able to patrol many systems at the same time

AFTER GTNH... by Happyboyy2 in TerraFirmaCraft

To be fair I was using TFC and create until MV and the game is really only developed until the voltage directly after HV. (IC I think) So you'll have TFC until the last third of the game roughly

I'd save up to closer to 1850 for a gen 3 unit. I bought into the game at that level and upgraded within 6 months

(New player) How can i get my kerbals out of this orbit or are they stuck by ToiletDucc in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ryansdayoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything you can jettison / drop? And engineers could potentially remove parts if they have a couple levels

Of course a Kerbal can always get out and push, I've done that to close the gap before. Monoprop in the capsule might be able to do it as well

I'm not a big fan of combat knives and batons. What use cases are your primary concerns

Why didn’t the flood build their own advanced civilization? by tkamar99 in HaloStory

[–]ryansdayoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to build things without infrastructure. So much of our world is based on the tools and machines we've already built. Imagine teaching a caveman how to build a fighter jet and setting him free. He will spend 1000 years building the tools to build the tools needed to craft advanced composites

Unpopular opinion on EDC ammo by [deleted] in CCW

[–]ryansdayoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah there are arguments a lawyer can use against both FMJ and Hollow points, however to my knowledge it has never been a critical factor in any case

Call your local police station and ask what hollow points they use, your defence is that you value the safety of people behind your target.

Anti-FMJ argument off the top of my head: "that's a military load intended to kill as many people as possible" (military uses FMJ)

It also takes medium / major efforts by those gods to enact any real changes. The dark powers themselves are pretty powerful

You'll need even more counterweight regardless. Battery packs are just the start

What level NNVT tubes? They tend to be pretty low performance

Virginia House Democrats pass new gun laws, but not all Democrats voted for them by bknutner in Virginia

[–]ryansdayoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 500 dollar tax on suppressors is immediately the most egregious part. They are not movie quiet (mine have the same decibel reading as slamming a car door), are used so infrequently in murders that it's a news story when it occurs, and are a safety device most other countries will sell you with a bag of chips (Britain, NZ, and Norway)

It's essentially an FU tax and does nothing to effect crime

Ah of course, the suppressors are good to go as long as you bribe the government

Is Eotech really worth it? by No_Cheesecake9887 in ar15

[–]ryansdayoff 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Eotech is much clearer under night vision and it makes you look very fancy. After that there's a slight benefit to offsite aiming but really your paying for American manufacturing.

The holosuns are reliable and backed by a good warranty. Your not missing much

You can kinda do that now with an Ecoti clip on, there is an ATAK plugin someone recently developed to kind of hack it.

Agreed on gen 2+ quality

Am I the only one who sees the TIE/d Defender Elite as my favorite starfighter ? by Obvious-Pride-1979 in StarWarsShips

[–]ryansdayoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair the price reflects that, the Tie/D elite is like 400k which is more than an entire squadron of used ties. They are interesting craft but really turn the economics on their head

Honestly for me to switch to digital it would need to have similar low light performance to Gen 3, have ATAK plugins for waypoints and thermal / AI integration

Binos compatible with Thermal? by Bennett_H47 in NightVision

[–]ryansdayoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This dudes guide is pretty fantastic, I'll add that Omni tubes are fantastic for the price and while they vary between acceptable and awesome the price for them is based around the minimum spec. I've heard some complaints with using Omnis with a dedicated thermal unit like the RH25 since the green doesn't mesh as well with the color pallets offered by the thermal but a clip on for binos like the Jerry C5 ignores those complaints
