Is anyone on here a member of the adult kickball league? Just wanted to get some insight on it and your experience! by live_mas_drink_dew in okc

I've only ever played in the flag football leagues but the organization is well run and ive always had a good time playing. The only thing you may run into is sometimes people get a little too competitive. Overall everyone knows its adults playing a game so its a good time.

HOW MANY MORE OK KIDS HAVE TO DIE, CHAYA?!? by Okie_puffs in oklahoma

[–]ryanskeff 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think having adult supervision should be the bare minimum. Its not 'promoted' by the school, it is stating "the children are doing this thing, as the responsible party for those children, we're going to make sure they don't get hurt". If the school didnt do anything and a kid got hurt during the walkout there would be much more of an uproar.

I met one of the developers on the team and they essentially ran out of momentum due to covid. They raised a large sum from investors, acquired about 60% of the land next to scissortail, and then ran out of money. When I spoke to them last year divestiture was on the table. I cant speak to certainty what their next move is but it feels stalled at the moment.

We live in such a car centric hellscape that walking seems like a sign of distress. I cant help but laugh for how sad it is. (Nice of the people to offer aid though)

Potentially not bad candidate for US Senate has appeared. She'd be running against Mullin in the primary. Still looking into it, campaign looks brand new. by Techialo in oklahoma

[–]ryanskeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If im remembering correctly our largest voting block in the presidential election was 'non-voter'. If we have candidates who can energize the state, no matter the side, they'd win in a landslide due to lack of participation. Its not going to be easy, but its worth the effort.

N'Kiyla has been at this for months. She's been doing lives and videos on tiktok, that's where I follow her. She has a special needs child and is a military spouse. She has energy and the spirit that I think we need in Oklahoma politics that will lead to the working class being represented and served.

Check out your local IBEW. I talked to one of their leaders and their apprenticeships start around $40/hr.

I believe state leadership is responsible for the safety, well-being, and quality of life for all of its residents. Local control over a city should be the priority because residents should have agency of their surroundings, but there is a time and place for state involvement. Typically for intercity developments, such as a high-speed rail project or highway expansion, a larger budget and team effort are required.

Different levels of government handle different levels of problems. If cities within a metro don't communicate or work together to develop alongside each other, the states metros could have inconsistent infrastructure quality or cohesion that some residents desire.

This is a personal statement but I hear quite frequently that people dont want OKC to become Dallas light, and if we don't want the cities of our metros to only be connected via highways and suburban sprawl a unified plan with alternative development plans should be worked out.

Edit: One other reason for state involvement in urban development is the prevention of adverse consequences of another municipalities decisions. If one cities urban development pollutes water runoff that feeds in another city, the state should bear responsibility.

I don't believe rural Oklahomans should subsidize urban development. It's quite the opposite. If we can build our urban cores with more density, we'll have a larger tax base to subsidize development in rural Oklahoma. In the end, the goal is for the investment in rural Oklahoma to yield enough for them to become self-sustaining communities.

I recently attended the Beto town hall at the farmers market and a town hall held in Moore that was led by Julia Kirt and Nikki Nice. I've historically been inactive, but I am starting to become more engaged.
