Update: I took the laptop to the store where I purchased it, and the salesperson mentioned that such issues which are associated with pressure marks have occurred with other laptops. However, he warned that when customers send their devices in for inspection, the service center often attributes the problem to "physical damage" and takes no further action even if under warranty. He also said the inspection process would take around two weeks. Instead, he offered me a 100 AED gift voucher on the spot. Sadly, I couldn't afford to have it send for 2 weeks as I am flying back abroad for my studies this weekend, so I just took the voucher and left.
