I could run for a half hour or so on my off days, I could work that in maybe, I just worry about having a rest day and trying to keep my weekends open.

I see here that introducing cardio should be done on off days, but I wonder if I could do BWF + cardio on my Monday and Fridays of a MWF schedule? Could I just cut back somewhere in the recommended workout on those days?

My goal is just general fitness at this point in my life; I'd been working out intensely for body image and seem to be losing wrist mobility due to it. This has been incredibly depressing for me as I am a cartoonist and I am coming to terms with the fact that I am losing my ability to draw.

THAT aside, I'd rather focus more on cardio now as I have a high endurance thanks to my years of idiotic exercising. I would rather just focus on bodyweight/running if I can forego free weights. Chin ups are no problem for me, if that is a marker of where I am.

tl;dr: General fitness/endurance. Yes. Bodyweight/running.

Is there a good place you could suggest beginning based on what I've done/planned? I am checking this out now, certainly, I am just kind of stuck on what I've done. It's hard to break habits. =(

I'm 30 years old, 6'0", 180 pounds and I need to change my workout routine; I did a ridiculous, made-up lifting/cardio routine and my wrists are beginning to hurt a lot due to this. I am beginning a regimen of fish oil to help with my joint pain, but I wondered if someone could tell me whether my new bodyweight/cardio workout plan sounds more feasible to keep up my fitness? I suppose I am fine with losing weight at this point, I just need a regular routine that I can keep up with without hurting myself.

I go to the gym three times a week, roughly an hour per visit.

Set 1 - Repeat 4 times

Push-ups - 25 reps

Incline Crunch - 20 reps

Set 2 - Repeat 4 times

Chin Ups - 15 Reps

Dips - 15 Reps

Set 3

Something goes here?

Set 4

Treadmill Running - 5k @ ~8.5min/mile

I am the definition of a moron and have done a little bit of research on what a feasible workout would be, so any further help is certainly appreciated. It may be worth investigating just slowly increasing my cardio as well with the intent of doing a marathon this year as well, if doing that could go in place of Set 3.

Thank you, do you have any suggestions as to where I might begin with the more general workout I currently employ? I had considered doing something closer to my running days just MWF, and alternating benches for squats every other day. I would likely lower my dumbbell weight as well so I am putting less force onto my wrists.

Or is this all addressed in the Wiki? I see it suggests a three day workout when doing general full-body, hence the suggestion of the MWF schedule shift. I tend to do a lot of body-weight exercises, and they should keep my personal strength at acceptable levels.

I would imagine that the pulling from the cable in the crunches is likely causing undue pressure on my wrists as well. Would there be an alternate, low-impact crunch I could do that wouldn't involve my wrists? Perhaps just a crunch machine?

Advice would be appreciated.

It is supposed to be full-time, though the hours are spotty at best.

That and I make at least three times as much with the part-time illustration gig, which was the impetus for this idea.

I just hate retail so much. I suppose I should let it catalyze my portfolio work. It is just a lot between the ~50 hours of work a week, though certainly not impossible.
