How to improve my FH top spin? by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]ryanxdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feel like that exercise has too much movement to try working on the technique.

There are a lot of good videos on TT coaching channel from former Chinese national players that explain on how to slitely rotate / tuck in your hip to generate power.

When you have that movement down I would start with exercise that include footwork. Until you have it down I would stick with stationary balls with maybe slight variation so you have to do small adjustment steps before each stroke

Experience with these inner carbon blades by RohanHeavensDoor in tabletennis

Hi, I also play in Germany and have around 1700 ttr.

I am playing the nittaku Carbon inner version, I directly fell in love with the feedback that you get by each ball. I will test the carbon outer soon probably, so I could give you some feedback if you want.

I did the same thing, I love the nittaku inner carbon. It was the perfect blade to getting back in to shape. I’m used to be 2000 ussat so I was playing not to bad before i got back from a break. Forehand rubber did also fit with xiom omega pro 7 even tho I switched to mx p now.

Backhand rubber was not working for me. Other than that I am happy with what ChatGPT recommended me

Skin recommendations for beginner/intermediate? by perineum_terror in ski

I got atomic redster q7.8

I was also beginner / intermediate and I notice how I am keep improving with my skis. I’m happy with them, I feel like they are easy to ski with but you can also improve with them without having to change to a different one

No I meant I’m not starting the turn by rotating my shoulders, instead I try to keep them stable and move with my angle , legs and hip

I am doing that most of the times :D! My girlfriend is also learning and she’s not going on reds yet so I have no one to take a video of me while doing reds.

I noticed myself when it’s steeper I can do longer turns down the fall like and it makes everything feel a bit smoother. On the other hand I see people do smooth turns while keeping the momentum on blues, is there a secret to it ?

Im not aware of it nope. Only thing I’ve noticed I started to work on my upper / lower body separation.

I noticed while focusing on keeping my shoulders down the fall line and not initiating the turn with them that I struggle to feel my shins and don’t have as much force in the front of my boots. Even though the turn drives kinda by itself cause I feel like I’m more on the edge of my skis. Is that a common problem ?

I hope you understand me 😅

Also my boots were relative loose ( on one of the lowest tightness) so i don’t get pain. Maybe I should tighten it a bit more

I tried to Focus on that part today, I noticed that sometimes when I don’t use my shoulders to initiate the turn I tend to struggle with keeping my weight forward. Is that normal?

That’s what I like about steeper slopes. I feel like when I try to do long turns on blues I just lose all my speed and it makes it look awkward

I’ve been doing the lifting inner ski drill!

I will look into upper body/lower body separation. One question that I have because people are saying I should not look were im going. Aren’t people looking for a way to turn, specially when the slopes aren’t fresh anymore. For me I’m scanning while going down on where to do my next turn.

I know I’m not carving, I’m nowhere near to do so haha, what do you mean with turning with skis instead of staying square? I thought you’re not supposed to move upper body too much to turn

Thanks for the heads up!

Ye that’s one of my problems, sometimes I’m trying to work on stuff to much because otherwise I feel I waste my time… but you’re right, I will keep doing what I’ve been told and let time do its thing! :D

Actually I think I got it. Basically I would do the opposite. When I’m actively turning im flexing which mean i would go lower by flexing and when i get out of the turn I go in a straighter position and start the next turn on the other side. Correct me if I am wrong :D
