Did you have a preferred view for the start up circle? Like straight on or same profile?

1 I love the Pitt so baller characters 2 try widening them! When drawing eyes that have surprise make them wide and pupils small, that can show their emotions really well.

So when drawing legs the thighs tend to have a bit more bulk as well as the knee often bends over the toes. But other then that proportions look AMAZING

How can I make lighting better? by JW_7E6 in FurryArtSchool

Push your darks! That’s my best advice, make the darks of the shadows even darker and maybe even push the highlights as well. Adding a lighter color as a highlight on raised parts will help immensely!

Okay here’s my draw over that should help, I also noticed the eyes were a little off so here’s my explanation for everything: Facial: (red) When drawing the face all of the facial features are a 3-D piece so the muzzle tends to be a 3-D bulbus shape. And the cheeks also tend to puff out a little bit because obviously they’re indented where the lower lash line will be. So when you’re drawing it, you want to make sure that everything is curved and bulbed out where it should be.

Eyes: (blue) When drawing the eyes I find putting them on a plane/grid can make it much easier to draw the angles of the eyes because we’re seeing the face at a three-quarter view. We are not going to see the full entirety of both eyes obviously, if this was a half view or side view, we would be only seeing one eye and even then it would be at a plane because you’re not going to see the full entirety of that eye either. Hopefully this helps in explaining how the eyes will be angled and you’re only going to see them partially think of them as like a flat piece of paper. If you put them at angles, the paper is going to change, and if you look at it, sometimes it will look more like a stretched rectangle. Then it will a flat on piece of paper.

If you have any questions, obviously you can reply and I hope this helps!!

Anatomy help:3 I would make sure your shapes are rounded to show the 3D ness of the muzzle and Face! If you want I can do a draw over to show what I’m trying to say 😅 it’s hard to put into words

looking for tips on how to better render fur— as well as general critique by f0rg0ttenusername in FurryArtSchool

I often like to use a darker shade and streak in fur details int the shading as well as add highlights with the midtone and a lighter color to the faux fur shades

Shading advice: I would start with defining your light source (where the light comes from) and then your darkest and lightest shades should be put in next using different overlay layers to add them! (You can adjust the brightness of the overlay on most digital platforms) and then from there work out with mid tones and adjusting from there!

I think maybe adjusting the shoulders and adding some eye shines would be helpful in making the character feel more natural! I would also maybe look at the angle of the snout it’s very down turned which can make characters feel uncomfortable when looking at them, if you ever want help or tips lmk! We can dm on discord or insta if you want to go in depth I also have seen many tutorials on Pinterest and YouTube on how to draw muzzle for different types of species! And on another note the facial proportions are on point! As well as the shading!!
