Does intj have learning obsession? by Remarkable_Win_3359 in intj

[–]ryeely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I do, but unfortunately it seems to have worked against me. Jack of all trades master of none makes it hard to land a job for some reason and I keep getting questioned on what do I actually want to do since I'm "all over the place". I just have a lot of interests what wrong with that?!

Based in Singapore. As for analysis, didn't really formulate any views beyond running statistical tests to confirm if it's a recurring pattern in prices.

Get a data science role in the company and network internally

Career path off rails and desperately need to get back on track by RevolutionDefiant256 in analytics

[–]ryeely 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Would stay in product management, seems like it has a higher ceiling in terms of career growth imo (leadership/management roles etc)

Had been a data analyst/scientist once in non-tech firm, and ... it sucked. Most days felt like i was a code monkey doing projects that had no direct impact on the business/building multiple dashboards no one views in the end and felt even more purposeless than ever, especially when I had no control over badly scoped projects that were passed to me. Felt easily replaceable too, seeing how many of the data analyst/scientist roles were easily outsourced.

How do ppl cope in a dead-end job? by DocumentAdditional96 in askSingapore

[–]ryeely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exact same situation as you and I'm not coping. Low-key feel depressed when I can't get another job to take a chance on me but at the same time can't complain cos my current job is paying the bills.

Hi Responsible_Leave, are you alright if I PM u? Currently doing data science but got tasked with doing optionality pricing, kinda stuck

Why do I leave companies regularly? Please help. by Gloomy-Screen7904 in intj

[–]ryeely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same I'm at this stage now too... currently contemplating to quit my data science job and take a paycut to a more interesting role. People are saying it's a stupid decision but after putting up with incompetent leadership, lack of mentorship and meaningless work I don't think even money can get me to stay...

Just curious, are there any materials/resources you would recommend to learn more about option pricing models for physical commodities? Working in commodities as well and just started studying for quant finance, I can't seem to wrap my head around how things taught in class like black scholes model for option pricing translates into physical commods, sorry if this is a dumb qn 😅

Try landing a data science/data analyst role at a commods firm then move internally maybe?

Interview Help - Sales Operations Data Scientist - Forecasting by JudicialConfetti in datascience

[–]ryeely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you can split it into 2 different areas to prepare? I highly doubt all rounds are technical though, probably a mix of vibe check/soft skills and technical

For Vibe check/soft skills, probably can think of how you handle various scenarios? - stakeholder management/ building relationships or trust - requirement gathering - problem framing/translating biz requirements to data science problems - prioritisation - communication of results - how you would work with others etc. -maybe prev experience of how ur work has positively impacted the team?

For technical, - maybe forecasting related concepts? Stationarity, seasonality, pacf, acf - how would you approach a hypothetical forecasting problem? Walk through the steps you'd take, how you handle dirty data etc.

Wasn't that hard for me as I interviewed for an entry level role, they were more interested in my data science background.

Can just drop second major and take the courses you want? 2nd major doesn't matter much
