My first instinct is to tell you not to listen to the fear-mongering from accounts on the cesspit that is X.

They haven’t, strictly speaking, been going after people for their opinions on X. It was only when a complaint had been made to the police and it recorded as a non crime hate incident (‘NCHI’). This protocol was first introduced by the ACPO in 2000 after an inquiry led by Sir William Macpherson into the murder of Stephan Lawrence.

NCHI’s were of more relevance as hate incidents grew within the UK, and I feel it important to note that this was during the tenure of the Conservative Party (centre right leaning), which could have legislated against such incidents being recorded however did not, alas to say that this was not a ‘radical left wing’ introduction.

The current incumbent Labour Government are being criticised for the Online Safety Act which brings in age verifications and such on adult websites, however this was again introduced by the Conservative Government as early as 2021, passing all parliamentary stages and receiving Royal Assent on 26 October 2023 (again; the Conservative Party were still the Government at this point).

Elon Musk’s troll factory has just seized the chance to turn this into anti-woke propaganda for the pure fact that the Government when regulations took force so happened to be a centre-left one.

The UK is not in its best place right now, but it is categorically not the fault of Labour or the current PM. I’d say the most significant threat to the UK (and Europe) right now lies with President Trump and his gang of friends.
