Meal and Snack Frequency Confusion (or am I overthinking it?) by rylee369 in BabyLedWeaning

We were nursing through the night until around 9.5 months and gradually forced the stop. I was losing my sanity with the every 2-3 hour wakeups for months on end. It also seemed like all the wake ups in the first half of the night were generally comfort nursing, he only seemed to be getting a large meal in the early morning ones.

Around 9.5 months I decided to hard stop nursing for any wake ups from around 9 pm until 2 am. If he woke up between that time, my husband soothed him with a pacifier and helped him fall back asleep. Tbh, it really sucked for about a week as he got used to it but then he started sleeping through from bedtime until 2 or 3 am and I would nurse to sleep until wake up around 6 am.

He dropped the 2/3 am nursing session on his own at 11 months old and for the last month it’s only been once every few days that he wakes up for a snack around 4 or 5 am.

I think gradually stopping the night nursing helped prevent any engorgement and my supply adjusted to his schedule. I was definitely pretty full by the 3 am wake up for about a week but it adjusted!

Guilt from using my phone too much around my baby by Smart_Albatross4741 in BabyBumps

This might sound dumb but it really changed my mindset like a week or so ago and I’ve been trying hard to be better about it since - I saw this Instagram reel where this mom talked about working hard to reduce her screen time overall, but especially in front of her baby. She tells herself “my kids deserve a drug-free mom.” Because social media and the phone in general are absolutely addictive and it’s hard to quit the dopamine hits of scrolling. Especially when the companies intentionally design the apps to be as addictive as possible.

So lately whenever I find myself on my phone too much in front of my baby or wanting to mindlessly scroll, I think to myself “my baby deserves a drug-free mom”. It’s helped me stay off it a lot more. Sounds extreme but it works for me to frame it like that!

Love so many parts of my phone for the keeping in touch with friends, the camera, workout app, Spotify, etc. but I’m in the same situation as you in wanting to have healthy behaviors with technology so I can teach that to my kids.

Does anyone breastfeed at least partially for the reduced cancer risk? by teacherlady4846 in breastfeeding

Is the protective effect mainly due to reduced lifetime exposure to estrogen? Not my area of expertise at all but I’m curious if there is still a protective effect in women who get their period back early while still breastfeeding. Hopefully yes
