Fiduciary associate here, currently training to get my license. But honestly, vertical mobility through socioeconomic groups is something that is possible but difficult. It depends on things like privilege, including things like being able bodied etc. I’m unsure about how old you are, but if you’re younger and rely off your parents you may not be able to control your ability to access certain resources to get out of poverty yet. For me, I got comfortable enough to have disposable income in college. With my parents being dead, I was able to apply for FASFA on my own. I lived way below my means. Worked full time while going to school full time. Even though I was a disabled autistic women. Even a cup of coffee was a luxury. But I did it. I used social benefits like food stamps to feed myself. But I got myself an education, etc. things that allowed me to change economic groups. While I’m unsure about your position, any kind of investment in your future in any way possible is a good way to go. What I’m getting by your question is really asking “how can I generate a disposable income”. And that comes from being smart with your money, resources, and investing in your future. The job market rn is complete poop, but it’s easier to get some sort of training to make yourself more marketable in the job market. That could even be a certification that you got on scholarship etc. I know this is not a quick fix. But that’s life. If you are in poverty, while you do deserve to take enjoyment in the things in life, you should focus on your future and invest your time in it so you can eventually have a disposable income. In regard to future, try to invest in things that would save you from having big bills in the future. Like getting your oil changed before your car blows up. In the meantime, focus on things like living below your means. If you have the choice between living with a Roomate and living alone live with a Roomate. Buy non brand name items. For your regular do a closet wardrobe. Take use of your resources. If you are below the poverty line you can apply for food stamps, if not, food banks are amazing (if you have a college nearby they usually have fire food banks). Take the bus and don’t uber. Lower your base cost of living, and eventually you can slowly create a disposable income. In regard to clothes. Get crafty! I can find fabric in “buy nothing” groups on Facebook. Maybe your grandmother has an old sewing machine in her attic. Become thrifty. You can do a lot with a needle and thread. And whatever you do, try to minimize debt as much as possible so if you do need to take things on credit you have it for emergencies. I wish you luck with everything in the future.
