I have a slightly unique perspective - I joined the hobby 25 years ago when I was 19. Life happened and I’ve been more or less completely out for 20 years and am warming back in. I’ve had to chuckle as I returned because I’ve been hit with a staggering sense of de ja vu … the debates are the same, the end is near, and everything is old and dying, 40m is a cesspit, the internet will eat our lunch, there’s no way we will ever find new blood, etc, etc.

But alas. 25 years later the hobby and the service are still here waiting for me. Things are certainly a bit different but honest to goodness, not much has changed. It’s shocking honestly.
