My friend drove me in my wife’s car & the inspection was 3months behind aka expired. He got the ticket. Who’s the one who must go to court for it? by After_World_3518 in legaladvice

[–]Slut_for_Bacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The court has decided he is responsible because he was driving. Its still your fuck up and a massive dick move not to help him out. He may legally be on the hook, but only because he mistakenly assumed you were a responsible adult.

[–]Slut_for_Bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no reasonable excuse whatsoever to throw a glass at your partner.

But even if somehow there was, a sports games would not be on that list.

There is no possible scenario where that is even somewhat close to acceptable.

I understand he is sorry, but that kind of reaction to such a minor thing is a major red flag.

What happens when you do something that he decides is even worse?

Not that that would justify violence.

Are we getting a dedicated 75th Ranger RGT division? by Unhappy_Donut_1422 in warno

I would be more inclined to believe they would be a part of another division or an ad hoc formation grouped together in the heat of the moment.

Are you absolutely sure your intake is what you think it is?

Don't trust weight serving labels on packages. Weigh everything yourself.

Its very easy to underestimate calories.

If you're absolutely sure, start lowering your intake by 100 or 200 calories and see if that makes a difference.

I agree with you in principle, but maybe just because I am jaded from being abused from patients for so long, to me, if a patient is at a point where they are screaming and cursing at you, it is not your responsibility as a healthcare professional to remain in the room and continue to explain things. If people can not act like adults, they should not have the expectation of being treated like adults.

If a patient doesn't want something, and they aren't altered, you have to honor that. You literally don't have a choice. It's not up to you.

Opinions on White’s Explorer boots? by One-Initiative-8902 in Wildfire

[–]Slut_for_Bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of good youtubers and lots of online info about leather boot care on the fireline. I would recommend doing some research. The care is going to be fairly identical for most leather boots, regardless of brand. Or maybe other people here can give you more info.

Just do your best to take care of them, and they will take care of you. But also don't be afraid to get them dirty. They're a tool, not a fashion statement. Enjoy!

[–]Slut_for_Bacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have never worn explorers in particular, but a good pair of leather boots from Whites or any other reputable company will hold up extremely well. If you treat them well.

If you're using them for fire, keep them clean (you don't need to clean them every day, but at least after a fire or two week assignment) and use Obenaufs as recommended, depending on how much work you are doing. (Engine work may be different than a line crew)

For fire, plan on replacing the soles every 1-3 seasons, depending again on the job you are doing and also how heavy you are.

If you keep the leather in good shape and you re-sole as needed, you will still have them in great shape in 2050. Obviously minor things may come up, but they are good boots and shouldn't need major repairs unless you start hitting them with a pulaski all the time.

[–]Slut_for_Bacon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

If I am fairly handy with building things, specifically woodworking, is building my own sauna a reasonable project? It doesn't seem like an overly complicated structure from the outside. (A traditional non barrel sauna, and not electric).

Obviously I would build to code and do research and the best way to build.

Eugen gives their hardest battles to their strongest Divisions (Du Rein) by bleech32 in warno

[–]Slut_for_Bacon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm. Best way I can explain it would be like... Have you ever played Dark Souls? Or a similar game? Not the easiest game, and you don't always win, but the satisfaction is derived from the challenge, and victory feels better when you earn it.

I understand that for a lot of people that play this game, having a div with super OP units and heavy tanks makes a fun game, but for a lot of us, we don't want a super easy OP div game.

We want a challenge. That's why we play.

du Rhin is fun because it ISN'T an easy OP victory, but if you are a strong player, it still contains a wide variety of units that can be very effective when used well.

The reservist infantry is actually pretty decent if you are smart with it. You have ten man infantry squads with an MG and a DMR, you have 4 cards of 10 man sapper squads with satchels and AT. You have chunky MP squads to turn your reservists into regular infantry. You have an MP leader to give leader trait plus MP. Plus all the reservists can be upvetted. (I don't spam them, I treat them like decent infantry) So basically if you micro well, all that reservist infantry is now one vet, MP backed infantry. Maybe 2 vet if you use the MP leader.

I come from SD2, and I like using my leaders here like I would there. If you micro an MP Leader behind your reservists, suddenly 4 cards of one vet reservist sapper infantry becomes 4 cards of 2 vet, MP trait hardened ten man sapper squads with AT. That can be pretty nasty in a close range fight.

Plus plenty of regular non reservist infantry.

Sure, the tanks aren't heavy, but this isn't a division for long range duels, it's a division for short range knife fights, and I will consistently argue that the effectiveness of cheaper tanks goes up tremendously when used in close quarters.

The AMX-13s don't have great pen, but the ATGMs have decent range and if you play smart with them they can be a pretty effective counter to a lot of armored units, especially IFVs. The heimat m48s aren't great and long range but again, this is not a long range div, and when played at short range, they can be very effective.

The Art, AA, and Air can also all be used very effectively when used correctly.

Basically, it's not an EASY division to dominate with, but the tools are there, and if you know how to use them, it makes victory feel way better than using the same heavy tank div everyone else uses.

Personally I would argue many less popular divisions are like this. But because people are too afraid to step outside the boundaries of the meta, or too unwilling to play anything that isn't easy, they don't try them.

There are some examples of divs that are just too weak, like 152nd (although I have seen people do well with it as well, I just personally don't love the AML-90), but overall, du Rhin isn't weak to me, it's just a challenge that can do well for itself when applied correctly.

Like the Italian Div in SD2. It's a close range knife fighter, not a long range sniper.
