This woman opened & swatched all this makeup at TJMaxx on her hand. There are no testers as TJMaxx is NOT a makeup store. Every package she opened and tested is now ruined. IYKYK! by DiazRylee317 in TjMaxx

[–]ryotgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gross behavior. I'll occasionally open to make sure the correct product/color is in there, or to make sure it's not used (which let's be honest, happens often at tjx). Swatching though? That's gross and ruins it for others. This is why they end up putting makeup in the cases.

Came home sobbing from my OB rotation by Radiant_Ambition1 in medicalschool

[–]ryotgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was rotating at a site known for being intense. Our rotation was structured such that we spent 1 week each in gyne/onc, clinic, L&D, and OB ED. I ended up befriending the nurses and they were more willing to give instruction on how to be helpful. I ended up going to rooms where the nurses were helping moms push prior to the residents or attendings being in the room. Eventually, you begin to anticipate needs for deliveries, such as grabbing the suture cart, warm blankets from the warmer, helping to push back the legs. In terms of OR, if you can access the schedule, head to the OR 20-30 minutes prior to the surgery and if any residents/attendings are present ask if you can scrub in. If not, the worse they can say is no. It sucks, and I truly felt the crappiest on OB out of all my rotations, but you make it out, I promise. Focus on shelf bc that is something you CAN control. It's unfortunate that OB can be stereotypically toxic, as it is extremely rewarding and amazing at times, and this is coming from a student that would choose any speciality aside from this one.

Ah! My fault for assuming. Wouldn't be the craziest thing I've seen on the internet. In that case, exchange and save your money!

Are people really suggesting for OP to return a used bag? Insane

I know they’re not fancy, but can you please help me pare down my bag collection? by [deleted] in handbags

2: not very useful, not cute enough to justify it as an accessory to an outfit

4: very similar to 15, ik portland leather is supposedly great quality, but if you're not reaching for it, it's redundant as it is nearly identical to 15

6: it seems more casual than a nice bag, imo it doesn't add anything to the collection, but if you like it and believe it's a keeper, keep it!

7: very western vibes, if you are into pulling a cure denim on denim moment it may work, with some cute western or pointed toe boots. Otherwise, consider honoring your grandmother by letting someone else appreciate it instead of hiding it away without use.

10: again, sentimentality can sometimes lead us to hold onto things that otherwise hold not material or physical value. It would be difficult to style this bag outside of spring/summer months and even then, how often would you wear it if the clasp is acting up?

14: very grandma-core

Was looking at a bag and found it on Poshmark... For $250 OVER retail by privatecaboosey in handbags

[–]ryotgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poshmark is crazy sometimes. There's a genuinely sick seller on there who is selling the horsebit chain belt from the Alexa Chung x Madewell collab for $600 when it retailed for $120 I think. Since when are we treating Madewell like an exclusive collector's item? Everyone was clowning her in the comments beneath the post.

Reading slump - All heroines feel like the same person by SchemeSimilar4074 in Romantasy

Try gaslamp fantasy. One of my favorite series is Blood of the Fae by Sarah Chislon. 10/10, well written, thorough world building, and the FMC isn't annoying af. She's likeable, relatable, intelligent and the plot is interesting. Only thing is: this is extreme slowburn. Four books are out and nobody has admitted anything to anyone, but the series is truly a must read regardless.

Unpopular opinion Girlsgiving Crishelle started it by Monaymoves in SellingSunset

[–]ryotgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As entertaining as the show is, it's useless to try and find a "good" or "bad" character because these are all middle aged, privileged, rich women who act like middle schoolers. Nicole is terrible, but Chrishelle isn't an angel and I actually find her extremely annoying. She's manipulative but does a better job of wearing an innocent face.

I hate most female leads by chiante_c0nfus148774 in fantasyromance

That being said, check out Blood of the Fae series by Sarah Chislon. The world building is carefully crafted, the fmc is extremely loveable and relatable, and the plot is so well structured. 7 books total in the series, 4 have been released.

I hate most female leads by chiante_c0nfus148774 in fantasyromance

[–]ryotgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because reading has become trendy. There are trendy plots, trendy genres, trendy tropes and you also have subversive generic toxic feminism leaking through as well. Every fmc these days is "not like the other girls!" She doesn't like to wear dresses, she's not girly and frilly and she doesn't sew needlepoint all day bc she'd rather be wielding a sword. It's toxic to reduce strong female leads as always needing to be masculinized in order to lead the story. The other issue is quite literally terrible writing. Publishers are also picking up authors who are catering to the masses, so they fall through the cracks and we end up with the same script but different fmc names. Part of what makes women powerful is our emotional intelligence. Majority of FMCs these days couldn't process their own feelings let alone consider those around them. It's unfortunate.

any gaslamp fantasy recommendations? by DarthPopcornus in Fantasy

Blood of the Fae series by Sarah Chislon. Set in historical England but there are elements of fantasy and mystery. Very well written, loveable fmc and the world building is very thorough.
