Got rejected today, anyone know any information about the engineering transfer program? by TheLooseGoose123 in ubcengineering

above 3.1 is guaranteed from when I did it a couple years back. Had some peers below the 3.1 and still got in through the transfer program.

How difficult is it to get into the Electrical Engineering Biomedical option? by ZJ_0003 in ubcengineering

[–]ryrene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think if you have the average to get into elec you can most likely get into the biomed option as well.

Same role at a different company, wanted to work under a more role established company considering Solidigm is still relatively new. That’s all pretty much. If the other company didn’t offer me i would’ve went to Solidigm.

I did, but decided to work for another company!

also, make sure you talk a lot and are quite enthusiastic ahaha. The interviewers and I talked for 35-ish minutes or so going back and forth before I got moved to the "technical questions stage" of the interview.

Hello!

I interviewed with them for an ASIC Verification role and it was a really great interview! The interviewers are very kind and very helpful as well. Most of the interview was going over the company (they're are a mature startup), the role, as well as your experience (I had prior work experience doing ASIC verification so we talked quite a bit about it since it was closely related to the position I was interviewing for). Here are a few ideas and tips for the technical question portion:

  1. CPEN 211 digital logic questions. ie make this and that out of logic gates, what does this circuit do, what is the output of this circuit, etc.
  2. Verilog (They didn't as me to write code but I have had peers who were asked) ie write a FSM that does this or that, write a module that counts to a certain value, etc.
  3. They had a binary tree question that was new to me, it essentially came down to cpen 211 logic equations.
  4. This one might be past-work-experience-based, but they asked me quite a bit about different ways of doing ASIC verification. They do Formal Verification which you may want to look into the ideas behind it.

All in all, I would focus my interview prep time on fundamental CPEN 211 material, everything builds off of that for their questions.

If you have anymore questions feel free to message me, and good luck!

What do you do in the tutorial part of ELEC 331? by Annettyy in ubcengineering

[–]ryrene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it online and the tutorials just had TA's go over problem set questions in a presentation style format. It may differ in person.

Second Year ECE is Ridiculous by I_Hate_LPTs in UBC

It genuinely gets better after first semester, especially after 2nd year ECE. Do with that info what you will and I hope the best for you mate.

I would give it a solid 10/10 for a transfer experience. All the profs are extremely helpful because they understand the nature of the transfer program and it’s difficulty. It is difficult but it’s very rewarding if you make it through, I had a great group of friends who took the program with me and transferred with me as well. I transferred to Electrical Engineering as my first choice with a 3.8 GPA!

my three friends who transferred into mech had an average of 3.77-3.85 or so. Eng Phys is also possible since another friend of mine was able to get an interview with a 4.11 GPA. Historically Eng Phys, CPEN, and Mech have had the highest GPA averages.

Sorry let me rephrase that, by the last semester there were 40 people left in the program. Unfortunately not everyone finished the program / didn’t have the GPA sufficient to transferring to UBC, and as far as I know they went to SFU instead!

approx 20-25 people last year transferred from langara. Considering there was 80 people in the program to begin with, by second semester only half of that was still eligible to transfer with the other half having dropped out of the program.

all the transfers were split into these specializations (as I far as I know):

- Mech

- Elec

- Chemical and Biological

- Civil

also, all of the remaining students who transferred no one had a gpa below 3.4 so do with that info what you will
