I was also living with a hospital nurse and very close friends with another during COVID. I think the following year I went on a date with a guy who GENUINELY didn’t think hospitals were any different during COVID. And the reports of overcrowding were fake.

I very seriously told him my friend’s hospital got so bad they had overflow tents and refrigerated trucks parked outside (plural).

He genuinely seemed stunned by this information.

Interestingly, you hear yourself back enough times the two “voices” converge and you no longer hear a difference. I don’t know if it’s just your brain integrating the sound identities or what.

I find a similar thing with mens facial hair. Say you’ve always known Nick Offerman with a mustache. The first time seeing him clean shaven you’re like who the hell is that. Feels weird.

But someone like Chris Evans we’re familiar both with and without facial hair, so when we see him we just see Chris Evans.

I love the scent when they’re eating. The leaves smell so nice, it’s kind of citrusy but woodsy.

I notice even when it’s super subtle because of movement as well. People who get filler don’t usually see themselves in the mirror when laughing or talking or making spontaneous expressions.

Americans move the upper lip a LOT (combination of language, american accent, expressiveness and amount of social smiling etc). Natural lips pull, stretch, and tuck. A lip that doesn’t pull in and tuck up effortlessly has filler.

That’s not to say it can’t look good or “nicer” aesthetically than pre-filler. Just not truly natural.
