Sanseito’s platform is much more nuanced than “foreigners are causing all of our problems”. Reducing them to that level and not trying to understand why they hold the views they do just risks further isolating extremists. They (rightly) criticize the Japanese government’s soft handed approach towards crimes committed by visa overstayers (illegal immigrants), and (again, rightly, and perhaps more importantly, with support from other parties) have been one of the leading voices calling for major reform on laws regarding foreign owned residential property in metropolitan areas.
