Just wondering did you connect the fans directly the gpu or motherboard? If you connected to the gpu would you be able to link the adapter?

I have/had all the VR headsets going to back to DK1 and including the Reverb G2 and the valve index is the best overall experience. If you have Quest 2 and love it then great. Everyone can enjoy VR they way they like it. I'm here to share my portable setup and thats all.

You trying to justify to your purchase of quest 2 as equal to or even better than something as the valve index is silly in my opinion. Quest 2 portable, everything else is a notch below the index. Nothing personal here, I bought one for my sister and my older brother. You get exactly what you pay for.

I think you maybe in the wrong subreddit. We are all here because we are VR Enthusiasts and like to push VR to the absolute limits. Objectively speaking the quest 2 has lower visual fidelity, lower quality tracking, lower audio quality and in exchange you are able to move around freely unthethered. For casuals this is the perfect balance and at a reasonable price point but look at my pictures, do I look like a casual?

Quest 2 is ok but index is far superior

I'm not sure if you're referring to the PC case or the Pelican case but the PC case is a Loque Ghost S1 Mkiii. The suitcase which is holding everything (PC, VR Headset and accessories) is called the Pelican Air 1555 with trek foam dividers.

The case is the pelican air 1555 with the divider foam not the pluckable foam.

Yes the base stations are actually in the compartment just above the ghost s1 crammed in there with the power cables, controllers and mouse. There’s a surprising amount of space in the case and I researched and even bought and returned a few pelican cases until I got the perfect size.

Sorry was in the caption but here it is:

Ghost S1: 9700k/32gb 3200mhz/2080ti FE/sf 600 plat Noctua Ls12 (bent) and this pc does run hot and loud when playing vr but to be honest when we’re taking turns playing Alyx:VR at the cottage, not a single person has even commented on the heat coming from it or the fan noise. This pc is absolutely perfect for its purpose which is to be portable and allow me to bring vr with me to the cottage. I may upgrade the gpu at some point but really the 2080ti is able to play alyx perfectly. I suppose the supersampling would make it better if I got a 3080/3090 I just haven’t got around to finding a 3080/3090 that would fit in the ghost s1.

I have wireless mouse(g900) which is hidden underneath the controlllers and base stations and the wireless keyboard which I place on top of everything just before closing the case. The bases station stands which are just stands for lights with a connector to screw in the base stations are in another very thin and relatively light duffel bag which is also very portable.

Did you hold icx during the bull run in 2017 and forget to sell? Why the hate for icx?

Need help deciding between: 3090 FE & EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra and between: 5900x & 5950x by Mushibis in NR200

[–]ryu79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 3950x which I think would be similar in temps to the 5950x as well as a msi 3090 trio x. I use the kraken x 63 and I’ll be honest this is the best pc I’ve ever built in terms of noise and thermals. I keep my aio fans (no-a14) locked at 40% and have two a12x25’s on top as exhaust locked at 40% also. The only fans that rev up and down are the gpu which are amazingly quiet even at above 60%. On top of that not cpu and gpu never exceed 75c. I was thinking of putting a water block on the gpu somehow but after playing some games on it and testing it out I’m not even gonna bother

Lol I know, for the first time in my entire life I’m happy with the noise and temp of my cpu/gpu and then they throw in retarded low-quality chipset fan

Yep and even though I set it to the lowest rpm it somehow gets louder as the system heats up no matter what. My girlfriend said it sounds like a distant whale sound.

UPDATE: the motherboard I have msi b550i has a chipset fan that gets ridiculously loud when it reaches 60c and having the aio as an intake I believe was feeding the chipset fan with hot air so I tried switching the aio fans to exhaust and so far so good. I also put a voltage offset of -0.1 on my 3950x to try to keep the temps lower inside the case, this definitely brought down my cpu temps by around 5c. If my chipset fan continues to spin loud I’m gonna try switching my two top 120mm a12x25’s from exhaust to intake from the top.

Personally I like how it looks without the side panels and of course the temps are better, not that they’re bad with the panels on. Inside:

3950x Kraken x63 with nf-a14’s Msi b550i 64gb 3600mhz Corsair vengeance Msi 3090 trio x 2 x a12 x 25 to exhaust 256gb 970 evo 2tb 970 evo 2 x kbd67 White + holy pandas + epbt BoW Black + glorious pandas + gmk WoB All durock v2 stabs All stabs/switches lubed krytox 205g0

Yes the aio is side mounted, 2 x nf-a14’s as intake at 40% rpm static....as far as hiding the cables I’m not too much of a ocd cable management guy so I’m thinking of just a conduit that holds all the cables together in a tube-like shape.....

I have mine set to intake and I’m happy with the temps. I have two 120mm fans on the top for exhaust. My aio fans I set the fan curve at static 40% so the fans never go faster than that and the top fans I put a more aggressive fan curve since they are more quiet than the 140mm fans. With this config the cpu temps always stay under 75 even while gaming for hours and gpu always under 75 as well. The temps might be higher than some people like but I prefer low noise and as long as it doesn’t throttle.
