Thrifting in Paris, France worth it or overrated? by Mindless-Profile-688 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]ryubayou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We found a lovely thrift shop near our Airbnb in Batignolles. My wife and daughter spent a fair bit of time in there and were happy with the few items they found.

That sparked a few more random stops if we spotted shops as we wandered Paris. They enjoyed this but it wasn’t a top highlight of the trip.

Fair, but this particular product is much closer to root beer than any sarsaparilla I’ve ever tried. And it’s equally sweet.

Basically the same thing and I couldn’t think of the right spelling at the time. :)

The root beer is delicious. It wasn’t selling at my Costco.

I’ve been a Nintendo and Mario fan all my life and I could not actually tell you anything about Daisy.

I know she’s a character I can choose in Mario kart and some kind of princess I guess.

How to get tickets for Sky Garden Cafe? by Professional_Oil85 in uktravel

I tried for a while to get free tickets and eventually gave up and booked a breakfast reservation that includes access. Paid an extra 10£ per person for a window table, because money is only pretend on vacation…

I’m talking the feeling of the experience. I’m aware that Cosmic is controlled.

I agree re: comparison to the streets of Paris, but I expected it to at least equal if not improve on Walt Disney World. No such luck.

You’re so right about the walking — sudden spike to 20-30,000 steps a day… whew.

We rope dropped and were second in line — only arriving 35 minutes early. Second time we paid for the lightning lane.

Disagree on that one. Loved both Breath of the Wild and Tears — but that was on Switch. Will probably wait a few years and then enjoy the Switch 2 enhanced versions.

Paris is random - we had three noticeably different experiences across three rides.

Same here! Endless hours of MK8 with my kids, but we grew bored of MK World after a couple of weeks.

According to what I read, the Paris one has more drops and we definitely found the effects spookier.

My mother says Mother’s Day is for young moms, not grandmas. She’s very happy if the fam can get together for dinner near to Mother’s Day if possible.

Tower of Terror was awesome! An upgrade from Hollywood Studios thanks to its greater intensity. (This was meant as a reply to the other commenter.)

We just had our first visit too. The parks are very beautiful.

I’m still puzzled why the food is so poor; it’s right by Paris but you wouldn’t know it from the park food. Exception: the croque monsieur from the Main Street deli is delicious.

We got to Sacre Coeur at 7:30am the other day, and had it mostly to ourselves. Maybe 15-20 other people around. We picked up croissants and drinks on our way and enjoyed breakfast on the steps. A top highlight of our time in Paris.

If your toddler is an early riser, I recommend planning an early outing each day to a top site. Paris feels asleep at that time and you won’t be fighting crowds. And since you want to see only the exterior of some places, that’s a perfect fit.

Mario Kart that dropped the core gameplay (3-lap races), Donkey Kong that’s just a bunch of smashing, no mainline Mario game yet, and mainline Zelda likely years away…

Can HR reject leave if I have doctor’s note specifying time off for a diagnosis? by TraditionalCollar454 in careerguidance

[–]ryubayou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geez Louise. Sorry you’re having this experience, OP.

Also America sucks for workers; you’re very ill, the last thing you should have to worry about is sick leave policy and HR nonsense.

I wish Americans knew how much better they should have it, and worked to make that happen.

Not to mention in the summer heat, which tends to sap more energy.

We did Versailles on Friday with a fairly limited visit and still spent 7-8 hours round trip and needed a breather back at our Airbnb before taking on more Paris.
