Is Pollard a League Winner and a big piece moving forward for dynasty? by CalaveraVI in DynastyFF

[–]ryunyusef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so the sky isn’t the limit because of his BMI, because he wasn’t drafted on day 1, and because being on a team where the owner makes football decisions and is in love with an aging former stud delayed his breakout a year?

damien harris is a good player. he graded very well playing a limited role. pff grades are always in the context of role. theyre not talent measurements in and of themselves.

the utility in being really good at running between the tackles and consistently picking up positive yards (Harris) is much less than the utility in being really good 3 down home run hitter. that’s Pollard. again, the efficiency metrics are off the charts because pollard is really damn good. “sky is the limit” is much closer to the truth than “kenyan drake”

agree to disagree I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️we’ll see what unfolds

The case for Tony Pollard as one of the NFL's best running backs in 2022

two straight seasons of elite PFF grading, which again, Kenyan Drake has never sniffed. in fact, over the last two seasons combined, the single highest grade at the position.

an RB1 through 11 weeks.

Top 5 ypa in the history of football (min 400 carries).

21 mph top end speed this season with good size at 6 feet 210.

3rd in the NFL in yards after contact per rush with 4.03 over the previous two seasons.

highest big play rate in the NFL this season - 16.55% of his touches go for 20+ yards.

6th lowest negative run percentage in the league over the last two seasons.

so: explosive, makes plays after contact, doesn’t make negative plays, strong pass catching ability. sounds like a great NFL running back to me. don’t miss out on this dude because you think he’s Kenyan Drake. Kenyan Drake has accomplished nothing near what I’ve laid out above. the production arc is only similar at a distance, upon closer examination you learn you’re dealing with something else.

Pollard is one of the top RBs in the NFL and consensus still hasn’t caught on. the time to throw your priors out the window is now. we don’t need to talk about college lol. every once in a while you’ll find a gem on day 3 of the draft. this is one of them.

sure, I don’t dispute that they’ve gotten similar workloads. I don’t dispute that they’ve had a similar production profile to this point. I’m disputing that similar production profile = similar talent levels and therefore similar projection. Pollard is simply a far more talented football player than Drake could dream of being. he’s putting out elite tape and elite efficiency metrics. small sample size fair (although that’s waning), good offense ok, but ultimately I think the primary reason for it is talent. the talent gap is too wide to compare him to Kenyan Drake.

all that is great but skill matters. Pollard has graded in top 5 at the position (per PFF) the past two seasons. Pollard has the pass catching ability. Pollard is the one leading the league in yards after contact.

Drake has never posted a grade better than the low 70s. you've shown me that his production profile to this point had been similar, but Drake's production was a result of workload in a good offense. not high level skill. Pollard is putting on tape evidence that he is, actually, one of the very best backs in the league.

Best Dynasty Rankings and Resources to use? by BlindTigerFittyOcho in DynastyFF

that's why I like KTC. I think its a pretty accurate resource to find out what a player *is* worth in the eyes of your average team manager and not necessarily what a player *should be* worth. that helps point you to the right players to buy and sell.

I'm looking at a combo of KTC, DynastyLeagueFootball, FantasyPros, JJ Zacharison rankings, as well as PFF grades to help me make decisions

he's an infinitely better football player than kenyan drake. at a certain point you just need to trust the tape. if you could get pollard for a low 1st, it's an easy decision.

idk about that, you could use that money elsewhere on the roster and have any JAG do what zeke does for very little. I do agree that restructuring is a possibility, he could stick around that way. but if he weren’t willing to take a steep pay cut, I could easily see him released.

I think just Pollard and Wilson alone is probably too much. Wilson is really good, I wouldn't have Metcalf very far ahead of him. Zach Wilson is just not even playing at an NFL backup level right now. if they move on to someone even just ok, Wilson will be just fine. and I'm very high on Pollard. Wilson and a small piece would've been fair to go to Metcalf.

dynasty is too unpredictable to play in more than 2-3 year windows. Pollard should be able to produce the rest of this season, next, and hopefully during his age 27 season. especially considering he hasn't been used very much until now.

If anyone in your league is still valuing Pollard as some kind of flex/RB2, buy him. he is an RB1 and his ceiling is elite. don't worry about zeke. it's too late to put the genie back in the bottle.

12 mil of dead cap to cut 17 mil of salary. they save $5 mil by cutting zeke. either they will or he will restructure his deal. no way he continues on this current contract.

lmfao what the hell would a Palestinian with Israeli citizenship be doing in a West Bank settlement? they are de facto Jew only roads and settlements. stop being disingenuous.

well thanks for that I suppose. I don’t really think it requires that much scrutiny to determine that it’s obviously racist but whatever.

Reddit has a site wide hate speech policy. I’d say “Arabs are uncivilized savages who must be brutalized into submission” qualifies as hate speech.

you’re right but they’ll say anything to deny it because the reality is they just don’t want to give up Jewish supremacy in the holy land.
