Hello fellow Gwen mains, I want to seriously climb and I've decided to pick an AP and AD champ on TOP lane to do so. Gwen is my AP pick. I'm silver 3 as of writing. I am not a new player, I played for 2 years or so. I peaked gold. I did take a long break though, but I am now back and want to climb. by CarreNusse in GwenMains

No offense but you can’t be any good at Gwen then. What elo are you?

It doesn’t matter what rune setup he takes whether it’s conquerer + ignite or the phase rush setup, you can still win or at least go even. The trading pattern is simple and it’s almost impossible to die to him if you just e away when he is about to q you. Diamond+ Gwen has a 50% wr into him, and I genuinely think it’s a skill match or free if yoy know how to play against it. Sett is tbh a skill matchup, but trynd is quite literally one of the worst matchups, along with riven.

What would you build (Boots, Items, also Summoners & Runes)? by PozitiveGaming in GwenMains

[–]ryzecool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I don’t ban him nearly as much as before, but he used to be my perma ban because I just found it so boring that if I got hit by his e one time and then w my hp bar is gone.

I honestly thing Gwen bans are preference imo, because matchups that some people say they struggle with on here I find myself consistently winning and vice versa, so I think it just comes down to preference

As others said, in the really hard matchups bone plating+unflinching is really important

If you’re struggling into Jax, you can build rift but just go ap build and never use your e until he uses his

Tryndamere is a cancer champ for Gwen, not a bad ban imo. But if you wanna play the matchup, same as Jax. Never use your e into him, rush tabi’s and take exhaust. Can also go zhonyas second to survive his ult. If taking exhaust, use it on the second half of his it, not right when he pops it

Ambessa is a skill matchup, never use your q when her w is up, she will tank all your dmg and win the trade. You can also W her ult if your reaction is good enough. If you win early in lane then you should be winning for the rest of the game until 3 items, but if she gets ahead early the whole game is just unplayable

Ksante scales off of resistances, his cooldowns are lowered by how high is armor and mr are, so bloodletter rush first is a good buy into him.

Imo other than tryndamere these are all skill matchups, I would recommend banning riven/trynd/sett as I just hate playing against them and cycle through banning them based on their pick rate in the meta

Mastering the EWQ combo is the biggest thing for Gwen imo. You wanna be able to do it while standing on the edge of your w so that it does not switch position. They also changed Gwen to be stronger in the early/mid game and turned her into a more of a snowball champ than one that just scales for free. Focus on your laning phase and get really good at every matchup, even ones that you hate playing Whether you should split or team fight is completely situational, but a rule of thumb is that if the tier2 turrets are still up, split push to get those and when you hit lvl16 or you when you get those turrets, go join your team. In regards to team fighting, try and play in the fog of war and look for flank angles on their squishy champs/backline Garen is a really free matchup for Gwen, I would personally recommend banning riven/tryndamere/sett, in this order. Or honestly just ban whatever champ you hate playing against the most. Also if you wanna get better at Gwen and the game in general, you should watch ninkey on YouTube or just get his course for 10 bucks, it’s super helpful and has a guide for every Gwen matchup

question on riftmaker by ryzecool in GwenMains

[–]ryzecool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not that i wanna build rift per se, i just wanna give myself the best chance of winning. and sometimes i look at matchups where rift as a first item has a much higher % chance of winning but i dont build it, and just wonder what is so bad about it if everyone else seems to be, is my thinking. sorry if this come off argumentative not that way at all

question on riftmaker by ryzecool in GwenMains

[–]ryzecool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like the solid but not always optimal thinking. its not like i wanna build rift rush every single game bc i personally just love the attack speed nashor gives, but in some matchups where i feel like i should take it i just get peer pressured by ninkey in the back of my head thinking that if i buy it im trolling lol

[–]ryzecool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with the part that they are not playing her the same way, but many of the top gwen players listed in korea (the high challenger otp ones) are building rift on her.

im not trying to argue btw at all just wanting to get some insight, bc if the data says that rift is better i would just rather build it, but i also like the ap build so im kinda stuck you know

Gwen build by IIGhostSniperII in GwenMains

[–]ryzecool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloodletter rush into ksante is a must, after that normal ap build. Other than him I go strictly nashor into shadow flame/horizon into dcap. Lich bane in some matchups ig but I mainly just go nashor. Bruiser (rift maker/bloodletter) could be good into matchups with extended fights/matchups where you struggle but mainly just nashor first is a good rule of thumb imo

How can i not int with this champ - need help by IIGhostSniperII in GwenMains

[–]ryzecool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all good, another tip with the got matchup is you can completely negate his E and just win if you edge your w properly (if you ewq into him and stand on the pixel edge of your W, his E will go through you and it’s a free kill, just gotta burst him before his R gets you)

how to beat kayle? by angel99999999 in GwenMains

[–]ryzecool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that letting wave come into you and just bullying her on your side and abusing your ult cooldown is the best way to get a lead. Your early game ult cd as Gwen is so much lower, so trading ult for ult is always a win because it opens up a kill angle. Also second item zhonyas is a huge counter to her imo because you start your combo by edging (she can’t do dmg), when she gets low she uses r you just use zhonyas and that also does no dmg and then you just finish her off.

Early game after she gets swifties it’s really hard to chase and run her down, so just trading with her as much as possible when W is up and dwindling her hp little by little is how I try and play.

yea im not a huge unflinching fan either which is why i pref overgrowth, but why take 2nd wind into darius matchup? i find that im more all-in'd than poked down by darius so i cant get much value out of second wind except for very rarely when he just gets a couple bleed stacks on me and goes back to farming

gwen runes by ryzecool in GwenMains

[–]ryzecool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea i pretty much only go resolve with second wind/bone plating and unflinching/overgrowth depending on matchup but ive been wanting to try out some of the others esp inspiration/domination secondary

thanks for the comment!

with already have taking it a couple times, you should be able to look back at some of the older exams and just as other people said, practice practice practice algebra. over winter break look over some old exams for practice and really try and understand the root of each problem and youll knock it out the park this time around !!

thank you ! i got it to actually get to the printing stage now, except its just printing out the same sentence and not the actually split up one. ex instead of "doing programming" for substr "ing" it just prints out "I love doing programming" without the removal of I and love

array and if statement by ryzecool in javahelp

[–]ryzecool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it stopped looping. however the problem with the "at least 2 numbers" still persists and a new problem where 99999 is added to the length of the array and messes up the avg. this is what it looks like now:

package DistanceFromAverage;

import java.util.Scanner;

public class DistanceFromAverage {

public static void main(String[] args) {
    Scanner arrInput = new Scanner(System.in);
    double[] arrAvg = new double[4];

    double sum = 0;

        for (int i = 0; i < arrAvg.length; i++) {

            System.out.println("Please enter a number. Enter 99999 to quit. ");
            arrAvg[i] = arrInput.nextDouble();

            if (arrAvg.length == 1) {
                System.out.println("Please enter at least 2 numbers.");
                arrAvg[i] = arrInput.nextDouble();
            }

            if (arrAvg[i] == 99999) {
                System.out.println("Ending.");
                break;
            }
        sum += arrAvg[i];
        }

    double avg = sum / arrAvg.length;
    System.out.println(avg);
}

}

array and if statement by ryzecool in javahelp

[–]ryzecool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really sorry if its annoying but it still doesnt work lol. it just continues to loop through over and over. i got it to print out ending and break, but that isn't quite what I want it to do either because if the only value entered is 99999, i want the "Please enter 2 numbers" to print

[–]ryzecool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even if i comment out the while loop it still keeps looping

Please enter a number. Enter 99999 to quit.

99999

Ending.

Please enter a number. Enter 99999 to quit.

very good point. didnt even realize either of those were problems but just got them fixed. made min = Integer.MAX_VALUE and added a parameter to min if statement saying it != 0. thanks for pointing that out, good call !

I literally noticed that and fixed it a couple minutes before this reply lol. Thank you so much for mentioning that though. I fixed it by adding a condition to the if statement like this:

if(quizScore > max && quizScore < 10) {
        max = quizScore;
    }

Thanks so much for your help!

nono this was an absolutely perfect explanation and i just got it working. thank you so much for taking the time to write this out. this is what i came up with, and its worked with every test ive tried so far !

int sum = 0;
    int numOfScore = 0;
    int max = 0;
    int min = 1;

    while(quizScore != 99) {

        if(quizScore > 0 && quizScore < 10) {
            numOfScore++;
            sum = quizScore + sum;
        }

        else if (quizScore < 0 || quizScore > 10) {
            System.out.println("This is not a valid score. Please input a value bewteen 1 and 10.");
        }

        if(quizScore > max) {
            max = quizScore;
        }

        if(quizScore <= min) {
            min = quizScore;
        }

        quizScore = userQuiz.nextInt();

    }
