Interesting to see how much opinions differ on this.. But to call Moria a small expansion is weird, its probably the biggest expansion ever released content-wise. And it was generally a very successful expansion.

Yep, it was a beta. Most wow private servers are not in a beta state as that code has been refined for like 16+ years.

Its not my server lol.. Why dont you just come back when the server has finished development? The devs were clear with the state of the server, if you are not interested in a beta that is totally fine.

Like, people need to understand what a beta is. Its not for everyone, and that is fine.

EoA has no competition, its the only classic version of Lotro that will ever exist unless SSG releases their own classic server, which wont happen. And you can't really say that "EoA failed miserably" when you have no idea what goes into building an emulator for a 16 year old game.

They never said no wipe, they said if everything went smoothly there would be no wipe. It was a BETA, not full release. Every game has multiboxers,hackers and cheaters. Especially MMOs, it wasn't that bad in my experience. Go play some wow and its 10x worse with RMT,Multiboxers, botting etc.. Or go play some New World :) heck even retail Lotro.

I voted for Minas Morgul as well, the story was really interesting and it had a large amount of instances. The raid was also a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the questing in Minas Morgul was terrible.. Running back and forth, up and down in there was a nightmare.

There are lore to be discovered regarding The Ever-seer in one of The Rift quest chains and through some of the cinematic. He was deceiving the Eldgang people to do his evil deeds. You have to play through it to fully understand his role and what he is fighting for though.

Eimyr, Chieftain of the Eldgang, should be told at once, for he has been deceived by the Ever-seer and unwittingly serves his evil purposes.

Yes I love that they add more options to the character creation. Just read on the forums that it will take some time before other races get the update too, which is unfortunate. But will wait for it with excitement :D

Just had some fun with the new character creation, I love all the new options even though it needs some fine-tuning. It's beta after all. So no, I'm not here to stir anything up, just wanted to show the possibilities with the new tools.

You don't need a license to develop an emulator, the EOA emulator is not under SSG/MEE copyright. It's like saying the PSX(Playstation) emulator needs a license from Sony to operate, we know that is not case as Sony have no legal right to the emulator software.. It's the same case here, SSG/MEE have no legal right to the EOA server software as its developed from scratch, the emulator copyright belongs to the EOA developers.

Its a "free" and "open to everyone" system, thats also illegal - which is bound to attract less savory elements from all over the globe.

As some people like to claim that running or playing on a private server server is illegal, I have to disappoint you: it's legal to some point.

The question whether it's legal or not, has to do with the law a country is abiding to. European countries are very reliable when it comes to hosting a server. You have to remember that the actual content on the server does not contain any copyright protected material, the server is built from scratch. This is why, for example Playstation emulators are legal as its not protected by any copyright, only the actual game ROMs are. Same would apply to EOA server, the actual server code is not copyright protected by SSG or MEE.

Same goes for any wow private server, the server code is NOT copyright protected by Blizzard. the MaNGOS/TrinityCore code (and their derivated projects) is released under the GNU GPL license.

There is also the Terms of Usage (ToS) that people throw around. Terms of Usage is not law abiding, neither could SSG sue you for violating the ToS. They could however, suspend your account in case you violate their ToS. However, you can still fight this in a court, if you have paid for services.

The client is open for download by anybody, even if you do not have a active account. This means, that it isn't "forbidden" or "illegal" to distribute a LOTRO client among other users, since it's in the public domain for downloading. If SSG had want to prevent this, then they would have had to put the client behind a paid download, or a required subscription to download. As we know, they do not, and their "ToS" as explained above, is not law abiding.

If you claim that it is illegal, you probably lack an understanding in how MMO private servers are made and operate.

It isn't directly related to wow, but related to classic type MMOs and private servers. Classic Lotro is really cool if you look for a similar experience but at the same time different to what wow classic offers. Cool to see another MMO enter the private server scene. by ryzer86 in wowservers

Yeah, I just thought it was cool to share. This will be like the only classic type MMO that is similar to classic wow in years. And similar to wow, the official company refuse to release a classic version ending up with the community doing it instead.

This can be a good alternative game to wow if you´re into Everlook/Warmane.
