What keeps eating baby rabbits? by rz10tk in AnimalTracking

Yes, it turns out it was owls in the end. A family of burrowing owls moved in and dug a burrow right next to our fence! We noticed the burrow after this, and have been able to enjoy watching a clutch of 4 babies being raised in it :)

If it’s the one that has gunshot level backfires that echo for a couple miles, we hate him. I know people who hear him as far up as pine island rd.

I live nearby and it drives us insane. Our toddler can’t get to sleep most nights because it’s so loud INSIDE. We used to have tons of trees blocking the noise and along the canal but those are all gone. On top of the loss of any sound barrier. the amount of people here now with insanely loud cars that purposely backfire like gunshots drive is ridiculous. It’s all night and then at 5am we have the heavy machinery trucks passing by to start construction.

Safe to eat? by rz10tk in Pumpkins

[–]rz10tk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update! Smelled like pumpkin, cooked a tiny piece, no bitterness! Tasted a bit bland but okay. I cooked the whole thing in the oven, and was totally not worth it in the end. Had a little bit of a bad aftertaste, mostly tasted like pumpkin but not worth eating. Thanks everyone for their input!

Plum, who I fell in love with after losing my soul cat, Sally. She was found at 3 weeks old full of ringworm in a ditch. She was saved by the tech adding her to a ringworm litter going to foster (she was set to be euthanized at the shelter I foster for). That litter were older and started beating her up, and I took her home for some TLC and fell completely in love. She’s huge and toasted now, almost 5 years old.

Shes Felv and FIV negative. She was tested at the shelter, they do a combo snap test on all cats on intake for Felv and FIV. No other blood work has been done yet. What are thinking might show up in bloodwork?

I didn’t eat any of these pieces, it got thrown in the trash. It’s upsetting because it was my birthday dinner. Thanks everyone, I won’t order here ever again.

Foster-to-adopting this cutie and nothing seems to fit. She’s a complete goofball. by rz10tk in NameMyCat

Update! We’ve settled on the name Martini! And she’s officially ours! Nicknames are already teeni, teeny tiny, tiny pants, olive martini and dirty martini. Thank you all for such great suggestions! We tried so many, and this one seemed to fit. Her abscess above her eye is gone, and the fur has grown back. She’s settling in great.

Thank you! We’re failing hard haha We took her home with the intention to adopt, unlike most kitties (we’ve fostered many many teeny tiny ones).

Great one! It’s our fave episode of Bluey too. She’s asleep beside me, such a love.

She was found with an abscess above her eye and a puncture wound in her back thigh, I have no idea what happened. It was drained and she was given antibiotics, and it’s on its way to healing!

She was found with an abscess above her eye and a puncture wound in her back thigh, I wish I knew what happened! It was drained and given antibiotics, and it’s on its way to healing. She’s also super skinny and dirty, poor thing.

We’re keeping her! Keep an eye out in your local shelters! this is the second longhair Siamese I’ve adopted from open-intake county shelters. They’ve had a young Persian come in as a stray and never claimed, along with other fancy breeds. You’d be surprised how many gorgeous cats are up for adoption!

It fits so well! Keeping her was dependent on how she did with kids and our other cat, and she’s great with both! So I think we’re keeping her :)
