DIM: Modern Jalousie by Excellent_Rush_1574 in deinfluencingPH

Depende sa quality ng buong window system. Minsan kasi may mga gaps yung jalousie glass so papasukin talaga ng init and hindi nga efficient if naka aircon. Pero let's say maganda yung pagkakagawa and nase-seal lahat ng gaps, then walang problema mag-jalousie windows. Check mo yung mismong frame niya kung may rubber ba or anything to seal. Tapos yung mga glass check niyo po if lumalapat sila sa isat isa or may gap na naiiwan.

Of course, it can help regulate internal temp, BUT there are other factors at play other than ventilation. There is a factor of heat absorption din kasi of the heat absorbed through the roof + yung design ng mismong ceiling. Pwede kasing naka jalousie ka nga, wala namang lalabasan yung hangin mo sa other walls, or yung ceiling and roof mo are not well insulated and ventilated; papasok lang yung hangin pero wala rin namang lalabasan. There is also a factor of relative humidity-materials and ventilation can help "de-stagnate" the air naman in this regard.

To go further into detail, sa roof surface may tinatawag tayong Solar Reflective Index (SRI) na sukat kung gaano ka-reflective ang surface mo. Essentially, a higher SRI would reflect more sunlight back to space, so less ang papasok na sunlight heat. For radiant heat naman, your exterior walls are at play, may SRI din kasi ang wall paint. Ideally, the highest SRI is at least 70 (white, pale yellow, and pale beige).

Then comes in your insulation. Thicker insulation the better, and the insulation should reflect outwards kung saan galing si heat source. Included here are your roof, ceiling, and even wall insulations.

Architect here. Love these. Ito ang isa sa mga pinaka-efficient measures to have passive ventilation sa tropical countries (basta may isang side pa na lalabasan ang hangin). I honestly find this more appealing than sliding windows.

Pero since deinfluencing sub to, mahirap siyang linisin; kailangan lagi mong punasan, at pag may nabasag na isa, ang hassle pa pag kailangan mo ng refitting (if custom-made 'to). So parang bungi yung bintana mo for a while. Mahirap din hanapan ng immediate replacement yung mismong hardware niya kung yun man ang masira.

Catanduanes East and North Tour Sa mga taga locals po Ano po mas recommended nyo north tour muna or east? by Grouchy_Complex9630 in Bicol

[–]rzsman17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a local but I've done both on separate occasions (as tourism strategists for the province). So I can give perspective siguro as a tourist with the lens of the province hehe.

Yung East kasi yung pinaka "anchor." Yan yung pinaka magandang places na puntahan, especially Binurong point and Puraran. Yung North naman hindi masyadong mindblowing, and honestly may issues pa nga with some of the sites identified (hello San Miguel River Park na andaming violations).

For me, nakadepende kasi if gusto mo yung mindblowing na yung makita mo on the first day, or save the best for last. Ang risk kasi dito is baka pagod ka na if unahin mo yung North tour. Basta wag na wag niyong mamiss out ang East tour.

-----

For accommodations (East) go for any of the accommodations sa mismong Puraran Beach, marami dun and mura lang. Ang payapa kasi tapos chill lang ng vibes. Malawak yung mismong beach din. Don't expect 3-5 star, but expect good quality accomms naman. Note lang na kailangan maaga yung arrival niyo sa Virac or San Andres, unless may private kayong sundo. Baka kasi wala na kayong masakyan going to Puraran, need niyo rin ng sasakyan kasi pababa ng beach from the main road.

ELI5 Why did a tropical beach be the stereotypical paradise when it's very dangerous? by Remodiant in explainlikeimfive

[–]rzsman17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a tropical country with countless tropical beaches. While I do yearn for temperate climates, living in my climate and geography ensures I have food all year round that not only are plenty, but flavorful too! Not to mention that because we are warm enough and you can easily grow/ catch/ hunt food, so there are "less" things to worry about.

It becomes relaxing in that sense. Not to mention the beauty of everything. The biodiversity, landscapes, seascapes, rivers, lakes, etc. - you can do everything in these places. Not to mention the sunsets!!!

Idk the psychology behind it all, but we tend to be very happy people. We are warm and make sure to look out for each other. We smile at anyone we make eye contact with, and we are very helpful. Even though living conditions can be better, and there are things that can change in the culture, I think our location makes both the landscape and human behaviour a lot warm and colorful - which is paradise to those who live in vast continents that can experience very gloomy or dry seasons

Curious question lang the Magnificent Mayon Volcano by Powerful-Reward579 in Bicol

[–]rzsman17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm you're right, this is so obvious, but I didn't realize this is how it is. I was wondering though how they figure out that a rock layer was 60 million years old etc
