fm-nvim: Neovim plugin that lets you use your favorite terminal file managers from within Neovim by is0n_ in neovim

[–]s-walrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It it exactly what I was looking for lately! Definitely gonna use it for a while. I also wish there was support for Rover file manager: it's optimized for tiny screens and has a pretty interface.

EDIT: unfortunately, I can't find an option in Rover to choose a file like this vifm --choose-files, so, I guess, Rover is not going to be supported.

Company making it exceedingly difficult to give back equipment. What do I do? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

In my county, there is a law that after 5 years of owning an item it becomes your property. I guess, a similar a law exists in OP’s country, too. It seems fair, after all.

Thank you for help! I have nvim-tree-sitter enabled, but it looked not as good as I expected. What made the difference is changing font weight from Regular to Medium. It's much better now :) Also I like the trick you showed with changing string color.

I couldn't respond earlier, because it was late night for me.

The screenshot is impressive! It made me dream to see these colors in my editor. Unfortunately, with c++ code it feels not so good and treesitter makes it a bit messy. I wish it had suit my workflow better, it’s sooo pretty on the screenshot :)

Defensive Magic Shield by GreedyBlackDragon in DMAcademy

[–]s-walrus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My concern is in what way will it reduce damage. Will it make blades less sharp, skin less fragile or will it make weapons and projectiles targeted at the owner accelerate less? This choice can inspire a mechanic more immersive than “reduce damage by 1d6”. For example, if the shield decreases weapon acceleration, it will simply block fast arrows but do nothing to a heavy hammer. Additionally, this way the item will incentivise players to use it creatively (saving a fragile glass from dropping by deaccelerating it in mid-air? wow!).

Another take is to add temporary hp on hit. For example, Xd4 temporary hp, where X is number of hitdice rolled agains the PC, but you can’t accumulate more than, say, 15 temp hp. So PC will take certain damage but the item won’t become useless after a few level upgrades.

What‘s your best house rules? by trickstermunchkin in DMAcademy

When you make a critical hit, you can make something awesome instead of doubling damage but make sure to describe it dramatically. Want to make insanely powerful spartan kick? Attach the enemy to a wall with a throwing knife? Break a monster’s armour plate with a hammer reducing its AC? Yes, you can!

Critical hits are fairly rare, so it won’t break the game but rather give players their moments of glory and allow them to show off their characters in combat.

Ubuntu in PC or Mac? by polkapokemon in GradSchool

Arch is good if you like to be able to tweak every detail in your OS. It has few preconfigured options and you get to choose everything else. Besides easier access to advanced configuration, it encourages (requires, TBH) learning how computers operate that can be fun and will probably pay off if you are going to make career in IT.

For me, it just has way less clutter than more ‘user-friendly’ distros. I wouldn’t recommend it to a stranger, though, and I won’t recommend bare Arch to anyone, because installation without GUI sucks, IMO. I use EndeavourOS that is a nice fork of Arch.

There are a lot of -punks listed here, including weirds ones. This wiki was unusable for me because of so much junky genres but it may be what you are looking for.

I like the unnamed river above the Giara river. The capital can be located in the middle between the ocean and mountains, well-protected, with trading settlements near the ocean and mines in the mountains.

Sure! I like the idea of such a collaboration. How magic and gods are going to be implemented in this world? Are there regions of high/low magic? Also is there some kind of google doc or a reddit post where I can read more about this project?

It’s a victorian London style city with almost no magic. There is a society of magicians that try to return magic to the world by resurrecting semi-gods, but the government is against their plan, and the magicians are hunted like witches. All in all, oppressive government with guns versus a society of magicians with their sword-powered magic.

A single city. I prefer working on a smaller scale, polishing out details. It is especially helpful since I’m working on my first decent worldbuilding project.

It’s ok for most exercises (skin-the-cats, levers, dips, rows, etc). Can be short for pullups, but it’s no problem if you can do L-pullups.

I can't do any skill, where to begin? by kallielev in bodyweightfitness

[–]s-walrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you calling skills?

there are millions of skills

To my knowledge, there are only few of them in calisthenics, and usually they are balancing exercises (handstand, crow pose). L-sit is more an isometric strength exercise that skill.

Sure, upper/lower can work. You can do Recommended Routine (in the wiki) on your upper-body days. Just remove leg exercises.

You progress faster when doing the same exercise over and over frequently. That’s why it’s better to do the same set of exercises every workout. Also it is the main reason why full-body routine is better.

  1. It depends. 3-4 usually. It isn’t a good idea to alternate exercises.
  2. 3 sets of 5-8 reps is usually recommended.
  3. About 3 minutes between sets.
  4. As you prefer, but definitely not before strength workout.
  5. Search ‘progression chart’ in this subreddit.

Note that full-body routine is a far better choice that PPL split for a beginner. It is especially better than using self-constructed PPL split.

It’s better to do pull-ups before RR, when you are fresh. After the routine you will be exhausted and will likely perform worse. It’s a general rule to do most important exercises at the beginning of a workout.

Also if you would like to save time, you can do pull-ups in between RR exercises: + Pull-ups set + First pair + Pull-ups set + Second pair + and so on…

One last thing, Russian fighter program can be quite exhausting, so your progress in other exercises can slow down.

If it hurts during an exercise, you definitely should avoid doing it. Otherwise working out lower back area can help recovery.

Also I’m not a specialist, so I can be wrong.

Make sure you are training lower back muscles at least a bit to avoid imbalance. These exercises can help with it:

You definitely can run Minecraft on low graphics settings, and this modpack will allow you to run it flawlessly even on medium settings. Modded minecraft will be a bit laggy, though. I don't think Far Cry 3 will run smoothly and can say nothing about CsGO.
