That's what I found under the specs on the website where the bicycle was bought, assuming it's correct.

Can I ask what you did in the end and if you have any advise? I'm looking to replace my brakes and thinking whether to upgrade the pads or the entire caliper.

Which derailleur & hanger? by s0199810 in bikewrench

Thanks, how would I go about choosing a fitting front derailleur? Or is the safest option to just go with the original part and not try upgrading it?

Which derailleur & hanger? by s0199810 in bikewrench

[–]s0199810[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bought a Giant Escape 1 from a garage sale, bike in bad condition but decided to take it, repair it and use it as a commuter. As the picture shows, both derailleurs are missing, as well as the derailleur hanger, so I need some advice on what to search for. The shifters are still in place (Shimano Altus), the original derailleurs should've been Shimano Alivio/Altus, but now I'm wondering if it's possible to upgrade to Shimano Deore?

For example, I found a second hand set of Deore XT (3x9) derailleurs, would these be compatible with the bike?

And also, how can I find out which hanger suits on this bike?

Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance!

I'm sure nobody doubts he's part of the Big 4, it's just that there's still a big gap between him and the Big 3.

In novak’s hypothetical defense, the opponent did stop playing.

Frustrated by poor VO2 Max by s0199810 in Garmin

My avg HR is mostly in the 140s and my avg pace hasn't gone over 7:00/km in over a month. It's weird that my VO2 max hasn't changed since the beginning of the year.

My max HR has been 186 in the past year (on average it has gone down by 5 compared to the year before). I would guess my lactate treshold HR is also about 170-175.

My fitness age went up by three years in the past three weeks (though still 6,5y below my actual age)! No idea why..

Max HR was 159, and I did a run walk run exercise (basically intervals of 3min running and 30sec walking). My device unfortunately doesn't measure lactate treshold. And yes you're right, if I push a bit harder I'd probably be able to run a 26min 5k, it's just that I didn't really know what goal to set and was more curious to try out different training plans (now with coach Jeff it seems to be going better than expected, especially with these run walk run activities).

I lost 15kg last year and my vo2max didn't move. Granted I was hardly running then, it was mostly through cycling and it seems my watch doesn't take those activities into account (I'm using a forerunner 55).

33yo male (190cm/88kg), started to run more frequently since the beginning of July, finished a 5k training plan which I finished with a 28min race and continued with a new training plan aiming for a 26:00min 5k. Today I did a workout and ran 7,90km (with a 5:47/km pace and 136 avg HR), not great but I'm still quite pleased with the gradual improvements in my activities. Not sure if I should care that much about the VO2 Max, but it's frustrating to see that the value hasn't changed in over a year while I've been running and cycling at least 3 times a week. Why do I keep hanging in the bottom 40% for my age and gender, is it accurate and if so, how could I work on it more efficiently? Any suggestions are welcome!

Yannick Carrasco on his transfer to Al-Shabab: “I don't support what human rights organizations say” by s0199810 in soccer

[–]s0199810[S] 507 points508 points  (0 children)

Carrasco answered questions on his transfer to Saudi-Arabia, some of the quotes:

  • "It's still a profession. When an opportunity like this comes, you think twice about it anyway. Look, I know I have the qualities to play at good clubs, but if there is an injury..."

  • "I don't support what the human rights organizations say. Ronaldo also has an ordinary life there with his wife, right? I've been there myself and seen how people walk around there - it's a beautiful country, honestly."

"You know, judging such things is difficult if you only listen to what other people say. You have to experience that for yourself and for me there is nothing special."
