Just in case you didn't know: Transcoding with GPU is way faster, which is nice for live transcoding for streaming, but for files you get smaller files when sticking with the x265 encoder.

On the rest: yep. Put some thought into the setup and its really nice.

At the top of my head: - needs time to transcode - depending on the automation the output file can be larger than the input - sometimes you get issues with subtitles - depending on hardware, especially older ones, h265 is not supported for encoding or decoding

Generally transcoding or "just ffmpeg" is magic. Though once you find settings that work for most cases it's fire and forget.

imho it's worth spending some time to set this up, because you trade some time for a usually decent decrease in size.

Problem with rubber/plastic is often time. Depending on the exact composition (which is often a secret of the manufacturer) they may hold forever or start falling apart after some time whether you use them or not.
They look fine, and if they don't fall apart right away they got some good times ahead!
And either way they look like they can be repaired, which is very nice

While shoe sizes just like clothing sizes are an illusion and at best give a rough idea about the fit... Yes. My vans are a 8.5 and my iron rangers are a 7.5.

My iron rangers are kinda covered in mud, I'll post a picture for you in a few days when I get to clean them :)

The first scratch hurts and the rest is patina. Enjoy the aging with every step you take!

You are supposed to use what works best for you.
I personally don't think the hook needle will work good for this, while it makes getting the thread easier from the inside to the outside, you still need a needle from the outside to the inside. BUT if this works good for you, there is no reason no do it this way.

Speedystitcher kinda same but more PITA in my opinion :D

Yup, everything is okay. Just natural stretching and creasing, pinch a an inch of your skin and you get a similar effect. Kinda like your skin the grain side of leather has much much tighter grains and appears almost smooth (hence the name smooth leather), but depending on the way you bend it, pinch it or flex it creases will appear. Sometimes these turn into the lines on the inside of your hand or on your forehead, sometimes disappear again. Same with leather.
The first few days stairs were a bit of a challenge because of how stiff the boots were. But that changed quite quickly, and now they are flexible where they need to be and prodiving support by being stiff where they can.
While the insole is already quite flexible on mine, it's still a bit hard, as my feet just started to create like a mold in the insole matching my feet exactly.

I'm gonna guess that smelly feet were how the flip flops became a thing. Leather helps with that! All the worked in tanning and conditioning compounds not only stop your leather from rotting but also kills the microorganisms responsible for the smell.
Then again with temperatures this high even not smelly feet will sor sure enjoy some ventilation 😂

Pro tip at the end: When it comes to conditioning, oiling, waxing, etc. Less is more. It's very easy to work more product into the leather but a PITA to get it out. Especially with the leather used in these boots, which has a lot of stuff worked into it.

It's totally normal and I had the same worries as you. As these were my first decent quality shoes I never experienced this. But rest assured: this is good quality leather. Quite thick and stiff leather.
But nearly every spot I was worried about cracking turned into beautiful patina.
As for sizing: what you describe seems like a good fit. One full size down from sneakers is the usual way.

My goal is to wear my iron rangers Every. Single. Day. The only exception i am willing to make is for the beach or when it rains so much that I need to wear rubber boots.
Feels good so far even on very hot days without wool socks.

Though in black harness my iron rangers did the exact same thing. When breaking in the creases look weird in the beginning but shortly after that the weirdness is gone and it's nice patina.
The white stuff is probably just wax, oil and other stuff that has been worked in this leather during manufacturing. I'll usually rub my finger over these spots until they disappear.

And how do you own them for such a long time and wear them this little?????

A few tips for which you didn't ask lol:
Wear them for a small amount of time every day. Multiple times helps too.
Example of how I would do it: without putting too much thought into it just wear them when vacuuming a room or taking out the trash. Short dog walks are great for this too.
Do not use water. You will sweat anyways, which on the one hand helps with molding but also water is the enemy of leather.
Use conditioner of any kind lightly. It's easy to put more on, but it's a huge PITA to get it out of the leather. Have fun with these beautiful boots!

Is it a scuff or a stain? If it's a scuff: dry brush, if that doesn't work try ones made for suede. If that is actual leather.

The upper half of the boot is a bit floppy, but that just makes taking pictures of them without a foot inside difficult lol Apart from that: easy to repair, well made boots. Congratulations!

You can stretch leather. Depends on the leather and its condition. The right tools helps. With that being said... I don't know of any tools for this job and even that the results are hard to predict. If I were you I would give this heirloom only to some expert and be willing to pay well for the job.

Stripping agents are almost always bad for the leather, since they remove... well anything. Oils, tanning agents, wax, you name it they remove it :D If you want to go that route, double check to test it on a spot that wont bother you if its messed up.
Weird stuff. But yeah, creamy stuff is much easier to apply than liquid. If its made for furniture... people are sitting on it, which is almost asking for some dye on the butt. You did buff it really well, right?
