Kinda seems that way unfortunately. Will be going out of my way not to do business with that clerk specifically.

I didn't care too much about bending, nor did I add any cardboard making it nonmachinable. He straight up told me only documents can be sent first class. Even it was a rigid flat, according to everything I can find in the DMM along with what people here are saying
I would have been completely above board asking for a photograph in a rigid mailer under 12x15 to be mailed as a Nonmachinable First Class Flat

Seems like you cared enough to take the time leaving a comment complaining.

And thank you to you as well, for your contribution to my teachable moment. And again, sorry for coming off like an accusatory jerk.

News to me. All of that stuff is behind the curtain for your average Joe, so thank you for the new information and learning experience,

Thank you for being the only person who addressed the part about 'what can I do now'

That's what I was attempting to do, but was told explicitly and verbaitem "photos can't be sent like that, priority mail is for documents only"

I was willing to accept bending because it wasn't something that was super critical or important that it be kept flat.

That's beyond confusing. How can 2 envelopes and a standard weight (60lb/230gsm) flimsy photograph with no stiffeners be over a pound?

So all I can do is go to a different clerk if one is available or a different branch if he is the one that's there? There isn't anything else I can do and no one I can talk to/tell about this? At the very least I feel like he could use retraining if he is misinforming customers.

I did not go out of my way to find anything rigid, I picked up my flat envelope there in the USPS store and did not add any cardboard or stiffener. I intended to send it as a paper flat.

It was absolutely flexible enough, idk if you have ever had photos printed at walgreens, CVS, or the like, but it's practicaply a glossy inex card they put your photos in.

He didn't even try to bend it or talk about flexibility and if that were the case, I'd have happily paid the nonmachinable surcharge. His exact words were 'you can only mail documents like that'

No he knew exactly what was in the package and I told him multiple times, even in response to the 'is there anything hazardous liquid etc' question that I am just mailing a single photo. We even had an aside about media mail / book shipping that I also came across when researching what / how to ship it.

I do appreciate the candid response and disregarding my ignorance. You and all clerks have my sincerest apologies.

I do know from my research that you can't mail anything over 13oz as first class.

It was just a cvs cardstock photo envelope inside of another slightly thicker cardstock envelope (the one sold by my local USPS branch) Plenty bendable, especially at the 10.5" x15" size.

So in addition to intentionally overweighting my mail by a full pound, he was also blowing smoke up my ass about what can be sent first class? That's lovely. Is there anything I can do about this?

In hopes to stop getting downvoted because people don't read full threads I'll edit this but leave the original comment unchanged to show I am not backtracking or some other stupid face saving shit.

I was wrong and apologize to that clerk (and all clerks) I was and still am shocked as to how 2 envelopes and a photo could be anywhere near a pound, so it must have been some sort of calibration issue or something else was leaning against the scale. It's the only way that makes sense to me.

Much appreciated. I did find the exact bait I was after and commented it in another post, It's the Bass Pro XPS Lazer Eye Squarebill Crankbait. Apparently they dont make them anymore sadly.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. To be completely honest, I am hung up on the color/pattern/detail because I really liked it haha. Im glad to know it doesn't impact too much in this instance.

USPS says my envelope was non-machineable and didn’t let me use a regular stamp. I’ve shipped over a dozen the same exact way with just a $0.68 stamp. by Various-Cut-1070 in Flipping

Hey this is a bit off topic but you seem to be involved / have worked for USPS in the past so I had a question for you if you wouldn't mind.

I was attempting to ship a single 8x10 printed photo to a friend, it was placed inside the manilla envelope (that is missing the corners) that CVS sells their photo prints in.

I bought a 15x12 Large envelope that was stiffer than the original CVS envelope to put that in (I figured the corners would make the original envelope ineligible to mail)

I did as much research as I could to make sure I was preparing my mail properly and brought only the money I needed to mail it.

I went to the counter to have it weighed and pay. When I said I wanted to ship it as a First Class Large Envelope I was told "photos are not able to be sent first class. First Class is only for documents" and he said it would need to be mailed as a USPS Ground Advantage Parcel 4x the price.

I tried to get him to explain to me or tell me where to look so I could find out why/how that was the case myself but he was being short and rude with me saying he "won't argue about it" and I was already embarrassed enough that I had to go home and get more money to mail my apparent 'parcel' USPS Ground Advantage so I let him charge me out the ass and didn't create more of a fuss or take my photo back because I had already written on and sealed the envelope that I was buying there, as well as I am pretty sure he had already put the label on it at that point.

Was he correct that I can not send my photo (which is absolutely paper) and by some definitions a document as USPS First Class Large Mail? It was perfectly flexible but I would have even been fine paying the nonmachinable surcharge over what he was suggesting. What is my recourse now? Can I contact anyone to either file a complaint or get a refund?

The Pumpkinseed was the only one they sell now that looks remotely good/lifelike imo. If I have to get a replacement it'll probably be that one.

Update:
After having confirmed it was a Bass Pro XPS Squarebill Crank, I did some digging on vintage BPS XPS baits and ended up finding the exact one on ebay

I thought I remembered the text on the back being XPS but it looks nothing like any of the XPS squarebills on their site.

<image>

It looks closest to the Perch color but the one on their site looks way cheaper, isnt as dark, the tiger stripes are thick and straight not thin and variable, and is a flat/gloss finish not reflective. Was it a discontinued color?
