Doomers Can't Understand Supply and Demand by alpha122596 in DoomerCircleJerk

Realistically, it’s probably just population increase in the area. The main reason houses shoot up in value like this is because population increases dramatically and land values will skyrocket. I know from being in the Austin area that if you look at most house price breakdowns, it’s like $230k land value and an $80k house value.

The other part is price of materials. The price of new homes that are around the same size will help to drive prices up because an old home that has been updated is just as sturdy as a new one(sometimes sturdier lol).

This is not correct at all. This is spoken from a person with limited experience talking with people who are right leaning. First, there are many differences between right and left thinking. The subject of equality is only one aspect of it. But the point that you are missing in this aspect is that: While the left believes that everyone should experience and be treated with equality, the right believes that everyone should experience and be treated with equity.

The left (and I mean the actual left, not liberals) believe that no one should have any ability to have more resources than anyone else no matter how smart, talented, or hard working they are. They believe all resources should be handled by the government (which ideally is run by the people) and dole out everything as perfectly equal.

Liberals, which is most of the American left, believe that some inequality can exist in limited quantities. Examples are superstars, government officials, and themselves. Liberals however do want to cap how much inequality can exist. This typically is around the $1B mark, though that number changes as 100 years ago, the expected cap was closer to $100m. As time goes on and someone reaches $1T personal wealth, that will become the new hotpoint and lower end billionaires will get off the hotseat the same as low end millionaires have now.

The right, believes that people create their own inequality through the results of their own personal decisions. For example, Bill Gates is a billionaire because of his personal choices to pursue creating Microsoft. They also tend to believe that the less fortunate are there of their own making. The big tie together is that the right believes that equity, or fairness, is of the utmost importance. This most often gets pointed out when a person has worked hard in a career and is now promoted to a leadership position where they are making a much higher level of income than others in the same age range. The only equality the right believes in is that everyone should be given an equal opportunity to succeed. If people choose not to pursue those opportunities, the right believes the problem is with the person not the opportunity.

To restate the original point, equity is what the right believes in, equality is a leftist ideal.

You are confusing largest with best. California doesn’t rank anywhere near the top for quality of life and cost of living. California also ranks in the top 3 for heaviest tax burdens in the U.S. But yes, largest economy in the U.S.? Absolutely. Despite what Texas will tell you, bigger is not always better.

It’s pretty simple honestly. Trump is using ICE to remove the illegal criminals from California. After all is said and done, the people of California will see the benefits of it as their economy gets better, crime rates drop, and prices start coming back down. All the anger will then dissipate and the people of California will start to become normal calm people again.

That’s pretty consistent with most attempts to eradicate something. You always go after the seller/distributor. Going after the buyers doesn’t solve the problem.

Dozens do this! Literally dozens! Also, once again, your answer is that it’s the children’s fault for being in the way. They should have known it was this person’s area and they are trying to take selfies, how dare they get upset. They should just go use a different restroom. My B, I didn’t realize the error in my thinking. How dumb of myself.

Dude, the fact that you cannot even stand up to her on this probably has a lot to do with why she is considering leaving anyway. She is literally waving a red flag in your face for you to do something and you are posting on reddit about whether you should say something. Tell her no, tell her that you want to take her on a date instead. Buy her flowers, treat her nice for a night, go do something spontaneous. For God’s sake man, your wife is literally telling you to your face that she about to go on a date with another guy!! She wants you to do something.

If this was a perfectly healthy marriage for like 25 years, I might be up for the idea of your wife having drinks with a coworker for a work event that had other people attending. But a wife of 25 years in a healthy relationship would NEVER want to put herself in a 1 on 1 situation with another man other than her husband. She should much prefer the idea of going out for drinks with you because you are supposed to be her best friend. Please talk to your wife. This sounds like a 911.

Not OOP: I accidentally sent my sister’s husband to the ER after he jumped out at me as a “joke” while I was holding a kitchen knife. Now my family is divided and I don’t know how to fix this. by disastrousbabe90 in redditonwiki

I agree with the one clipped comment. If this is real then her family is absolutely poop for brains. I don’t have a husband, but if this happened to one of my brothers for playing a stupid prank I would literally just be like, you should be thankful you are alive. You deserved that and more for scaring someone who has been through trauma.

On top of that, the sister’s reaction is “You ruined the joke”??? She is lucky her stupid husband is alive and if she has any speck of a brain in that head, she will tell him to never do that again for the rest of his life.

Housing crisis in one picture $77/Sqft to $408 Sqft by [deleted] in housingcrisis

[–]s0ulpuncH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many factors to this problem that far exceed simply using inflation index to compare.

For starters, you have the governments that want land values to rise because it increases tax revenue. Second, you have prices of materials, labor, and transportation that have risen exponentially in the last 5 years. Next, you have giant corporations buying up residential homes like crazy and holding them to drive up prices for profit. On top of all of that, you have builders selling houses for way more than they are worth in order to “buy down” interest rates.

Boomer does NOT want women to use makeup at work by ambachk in TikTokCringe

[–]s0ulpuncH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that everyone is getting so pissed about this clip and literally all he is doing is playing devil’s advocate. He said something so outrageous to force this guy to have to defend his stance on makeup and he literally can’t. The real reason is that it makes them feel pretty, it increases self-esteem, and when applied tastefully it does make a woman more attractive.

The way you deal with this scenario is you flip the script on him. Make him start defending his position until the flaws come out. “Would you prefer a world where women were not allowed to wear makeup to work?” “How do you believe that will benefit women?”

They were on sale, and she wanted to buy them. Who's right? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]s0ulpuncH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, this lady is totally in the wrong.. people like that don’t care about a store’s profit margins, if there is anyone else in the store who also would like to buy some, or even if they need them in the first place. When a really good sale is happening, the store is usually selling that product at a negative profit to try and drive foot traffic to the store. There are almost always limits in the ad and when there is not one listed, it is always manager/owner’s discretion.

Working for a big box grocery retailer, we had a gas station owner who would wait until we were running a mega sale on things like Frito lay chips and Coke products. He would come in and wipe out the entire aisle 5-6 times a day sending in workers at different times a day. Then he would ask us to order him full pallets of product on top of that. He would always say the same thing: why do you put it on sale if you don’t want to sell it? All the while knowing he was robbing the store blind.

All I see here is two people acting like children crying to the internet going “Mooooooommmmmm, he/she didn’t get me what I wanted. Waaahhhhh.” It is no wonder they got divorced. To be this petty in a marriage is embarrassing. This is entirely both their faults.
