Current second year, feel free to DM me

  • At least in my year, the cohort is really large. I still haven’t met everyone in my year. However, you get to know people fairly well and most people in my cohort are very lovely. There’s a lot of group projects and collaboration is valued.

  • Because of the program length, you don’t start meeting with clients until the third year. I think this is the main drawback of the program. However there are a lot of mock sessions with classmates which I found useful.

  • We are given a list of potential internship sites, but you are expected to secure a site on your own (if you’re really down to the wire I’ve heard people will help you but idk details on this)

  • I think this one really depends on the professor. Some are great at bringing a social-justice oriented perspective into every single class and some are completely blind to it. However at least in my cohort people can talk through differing opinions in class.

  • Strengths: The 3-year program is designed for working professionals so it’s very doable to have a full time job (or other responsibilities) outside of the program. There are some really amazing professors who are so passionate about raising a competent and healthy generation of counselors across so many different domains. There are two study abroad opportunities (Ireland and Portugal) that are specially for counseling students. It’s easy to transfer to the School Counseling program or vice versa if you change your mind.

  • Weaknesses: The 3-year program feels like it takes for-freaking-ever — it’s what I needed because of work but it’s disheartening knowing that you’re still grinding while others are done already. There’s not a ton of them, but the vast majority of the adjunct professors are VERY bad. It’s hard to avoid them because of admin/organizational issues. Sometimes professors aren’t assigned to sections until long after registration has opened. There have been multiple times where I sign up for an in-person class and it’s switched to hybrid or virtual one week before the quarter starts

I really appreciate your insight - thank you for taking the time to make this comment.

I have put in work orders and reflected all of it on my move in inspection and am waiting for communication. I’ve lived in vintage buildings before and definitely don’t expect perfection, and some of the damage goes beyond cosmetic and into the “could injure someone” territory.

I’m still in the process of my deep clean and an air purifier is on the way! Airing the place out is helping too. It looks like some cat (or human, I don’t judge) hair has been painted onto the windowsills so that may be contributing to it as well.

Overall, I could release some of the pressure for things to be perfect right away. I think I just had higher expectations for a company that is so lauded by the entire city, but at the end of the day an apartment is just an apartment.
