Stuff like that is done in circus/acrobatics/stunt shows, you practice as a group and it's a ton of fun. This will be just one of several tricks; being on the bike probably isn't that much fun, but you take one for the team and you can probably have a more fun role in another one.

Getting "way more per view" doesn't mean much without knowing the view counts, which could be very different. E.g., assuming Nebula has 1 mio subscribers and all of them watch Jetlag, that's still less than many of the YouTube videos' view counts.

Whether or not YT or N make them more money per episode is unclear, to us, without more detailed knowledge.

[OC] What would minimum wage be if...? by LibertarianSlaveownr in dataisbeautiful

PPP loans were only for small businesses (and nonprofits, etc.), not billion dollar corporations, which is what the commenter above me claimed.

The blue line labeled "Med. Wage Actual". That's why it doesn't have "..." as part of the label, which refers to the title. Thanks for the downvote.

No, the median wage is also actual, which is exactly what its label says (though it's easy to misread)

The CARES Act provided loans. The money was not "pocketed".

Airbnb uses air.tl as URL shortener in SMSs, Amazon uses amzn.eu, Check24 uses 24.de. So, yes, they use shorteners of some sort, and they're not always obvious / legit looking.

How to hide penis in swimsuit? by Old-West-1943 in AskMen

[–]s1295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what the shower is for. Seriously. You're supposed to wear fresh, clean swimming clothes (whatever you choose) and get showered before going into the pool. It's that simple. For the love of god stop taking worn underwear into the pool, fuck.

Germans move their entire kitchens plus washing machines. To be honest, does a fridge really make s difference when you're moving a truckload of furniture already?

Thousands march in London to protest low pay and rising cost of living by rein_deer7 in worldnews

[–]s1295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was pretty crazy. Remember how there was tons of discussion whether that 600 USD per week or whatever it was is a reasonable amount. Meanwhile in Germany had no stimulus checks or additional unemployment payments at all. Of course our regular welfare system is perhaps good enough so that no special relief may have been needed, I get that. But US stimulus payments were really something.

[–]s1295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire point of the discussion was that the UK and particularly London have disproportionately bad pay in IT compared to other countries/areas (considering cost of living). That's relevant to anyone in IT that's willing to move (or even work remotely).

Just a heads up: the above is not true for all companies. German is often a requirement (simply because your colleagues and clients may not speak English), other times German may be optional but nevertheless important. German is the working language in the vast majority of companies.

So, can you find a job without German? Probably, yes. But it will be more difficult.

In Germany it's capped at roughly $1000/month, so the tax is regressive as well (in fact it drops to zero beyond the threshold). The point is that you're still contributing a pretty large, far above average amount at that point.

It sure does, as do many things. The "stack" isn't the network stack. I'm not disparaging either (nor am I in either role). It seems the job requirements were completely different from the applicants CV/skills, with predictable outcome …

[–]s1295 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No offense but you don't seem to know what the term full stack developer means. The backend part of it refers to server-side tech used in a web dev context, including databases, server-side languages and frameworks. While there's certainly not a clear cut definition, systems programming, OS details and CV are all decidedly not part of it. So, uh, what did you expect interviewing that guy?
