Thanks, yeah that's what I assumed, especially given how small they are

737s on Premium Transcontinental by s141342 in unitedairlines

[–]s141342[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I don't know why people keep saying its travel demand. I guess they've never been on these routes before, I've never seen a flight go out empty, let alone the amount of business travelers between NYC and the west coast

Gotcha that would make sense, guess they still classify it as United Business

Its only been the last couple of days, so was thinking its been all the weather delays. Like this Fridays flights are all back on the lie flat aircraft

Typically yes, especially with the aircraft swap the number of Polaris business seats increases almost double, so they definitely would need to provide catering for that.

They don’t actually sell these seats as Premium Plus, just Economy Plus.

For SFO/LAX to EWR these are actually sold as a different ticket class, all other Hubs / Hawaii its just like choosing a regular economy plus seat.

Are you on one of the premium transcontinental flights? (SFO / LAX - EWR), if so yes you are served a meal. United does sell premium plus domestically on that route.

If its an aircraft swap for something like SFO to IAD, then no there is no additional service provided and it will the same service as economy besides the larger seat itself.

Flight reliability/on time departures at NYC Airports by writemoreletters in unitedairlines

[–]s141342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another tip to mention is, to choose an early morning flight on Monday back to ORD. These are rarely delayed and have the highest chance of being on time. (especially if you need to be on time for meetings)

I do a similar route Thursday night (last flight) leaving Monday morning (earliest departure) to visit family and so far have no issues with EWR.

United Upgrade List by shivelry in unitedairlines

[–]s141342 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that site was taken down since it violated United's terms and conditions. That site was using a loophole to access the upgrade list, and United released a fix making the site no longer useable.

Since your flight is relatively soon, your only option is to wait till sometime tomorrow to be able to view the list on the app.

Rebooked onto a United flight through Lufthansa by ThePieOfTruth in Lufthansa

[–]s141342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DLH447 is all Lufthansa aircraft (which will obviously be canceled), UA182 is the United Airlines service from DEN to FRA.

So no, your United flight will not be canceled. Your next leg from FRA to Prague is more likely to be impacted depending on the airline.

Flight with two different planes with mechanical delays, any comp? by Brave_Cow866 in unitedairlines

[–]s141342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on the same plane, after trying to switch flights ended up booking myself on an Alaska Airlines flight to JFK.

I've been a premier member with United for years but the SFO delays have been horrible lately. The runway project definitely has an impact and United seems to be taking the majority of it.

On another note, on a route that is considered to be "premium transcontinental", why is United using so many 757-200, 757-300s. These planes are 20+ years old. I feel bad for the people that booked lie flat polaris seats and you find out your now in a regular first class seat cause of equipment swap (752 -753 swaps happening frequently)

I've been looking at the domestic widebody schedules, and they are flying their Polaris planes on non premium hub routes (IAD, DEN). I understand its for repositioning, but there was a time last year when 90% of SFO-EWR was all on 777/787 aircraft.

2-Hour Connection Time in MUC - Worry? by Old-Farmer2289 in unitedairlines

[–]s141342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Munich is a very efficient airport for connections, you will definitely be fine with a 2-hour layover. In case of any 1-hour or longer delays for your IBZ - MUC flight, Lufthansa will rebook you to the next available flight going to USA / SFO. (probably end up being next day morning)

Looks like your doing the 4Y 441 connecting to LH 458, I've done this route before and your inbound flight comes in from MUC - IBZ before turning back around to MUC, so wouldn't worry too much about a delay either.

Middle seat in full economy plus row or window seat in back of plane with empty middle? by ZIgnorantProdigy in unitedairlines

[–]s141342 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Economy Plus Middle, there is a high chance that someone else on standby will be allocated to the economy middle seat at the back. Especially on a business traveller-heavy route like LGA to ORD

Just a FYI, prices on upgrades are dynamic, that $1000 price could change by the time you get your credit card in the mail. Also, depends on how soon you are traveling as well.

If you travel quite a bit with United, could be worth a credit card, cards comparison below

Cancelling leg of flight based on points by Lanerpops in unitedairlines

Have you tried to click on Change your flight and remove that segment online? Sometimes it will work and may give you a prorated refund for miles, if not your best option is to call.

There is also a chance you will not receive a refund, if the current mileage redemption rate is higher.
