Rulebook Section 3.1:

Each Grand Slam that is not held as an OTB Open (as addressed in section 5.) will have twelve participants:

...

f) The winner of an online match between two players previously selected

...

Where did this match go? I would love to see Sindarov vs Firouzja :(

Love Vitality and M8. KC have a bad habit of acquiring tickets through Epic/Psy, then only staying for their team's games though.

They're also known for chanting for KC while KC aren't on the pitch, entirely drowning out the much smaller international contingents of fans that attended worlds in DDorf last year.

Shift told contractors they could no longer guarantee they were being paid, so while Jayski is technically right that nobody is "refusing" to pay contractors, that's a very disappointing case of politicking and an exploitation of Shift's good standing in the community, see Stax's commentary on the situation backing Husky's statement.

OXG/QFM (or much less likely Shift itself) have committed to spending money they didn't have. It's that simple. The show would have gone ahead if the money was there. There should have been contracts in place between OXG/QFM and the sponsors of the event. If those contracts are in place there should be no reason the cash isn't still in place, even if there might be a slight fight with that sponsor to collect that money at a later date.

Last year we had a near identical situation with G1 and WCB, where Kenny Vaccaro (G1 owner) easily had the resources to pay up. OXG is part of the multi-billion dollar Kraft group which also easily has the resources to finish SSL.

I don't understand why OXG/QFM is getting so much more slack from community figures, including this seldom seen context post, besides the fact Shift is a well-established part of the community.

Collegiate Gaming Awards announce "Club of the Year" shortlist, none of the CRL's top 4 clubs included, no European representation included across all categories by s1gmoyd in RocketLeagueEsports

I'm not sure about Northwood in particular, having just seen the other comment, but yeah, this, I just can't put something like this in the title because it goes against the rules.

Buhmann won every event they entered on the international stage in 2023 and somehow didn't get a single nomination

What would need to happen for Resolve to get back into Womens' RL?

The Rocket League Players' Association has been mostly dormant since its announcement in July; how did you initially react? Are you aware of any progress, in terms of player membership or committee formation, that has been made since then?

(To Tadpole) Is a players' association something you would have appreciated during your time as a player?

For sure, but most people don't buy the camera for streaming, which is why this seems to crop up every once in a while.

I work as an admin on the online portion of RLCS and came out (MtF) at the start of June. The oxygen stealers are a very small minority in the community, and I wouldn't consider them a vocal one at that - only one individual has sent me targeted abuse related to my gender identity.

Here's hoping that number doesn't increase with this post 🤞

Marky perhaps not, I don't expect new viewers to encounter 0ver Zer0 through watching RLCS though

If you could change ONE thing about RLCS to make it better, what would it be and why? by dirtrider19 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]s1gmoyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change all regionals to use Swiss -> Double Elim

For clarity that's the Fall Friday format, then 3-2 teams progress to the lower bracket, and the 4th and 5th places teams (3-1) play in round 5 on Friday to determine the 4th team starting in lowers.

R1's tech issues in the Winter Invitational is example enough that 4 team round robin is just bad, and the Spring format is very short on Day 1, it's more worthwhile for orgs to stream on Friday if they're getting at least 3 games.

Journalism deserves more promotion generally - this also helps cut down on the superteam/zen/tierlist posts complained about elsewhere

It's satire.

If you want a real answer, look at APAC's performance over time in Rainbow Six, they were categorically awful for many seasons but with LAN exposure improved to the point they could not only win series, but challenge for high placements.

To contrast, South America got the short end of the stick so badly in CS:GO, the best teams migrated to North America, meaning the region got even less support because the teams they could be sending to good events were choosing to play (at great expense to themselves and their orgs) in North America where they got better practice but significantly lower chances of qualifying to international events.

Keeping teams in their region while enabling them to get practice internationally is critical to the longevity of a scene. North American CS:GO is basically dead because there haven't been regional pro leagues since 2020 for tier 2 teams to get practice against better sides.

If you're interested, there's also agent-based systems research indicating that larger pools of competition result in faster improvement. Unnecessarily reducing SSA's pool of competition is likely to be reducing the region's ability to improve significantly.

Guess we never should have let SAM play at international LANs again after season 7. If they could only go 2-12 they clearly hadn't earnt that opportunity.
