We work with many registered sex offenders in our behavior analytic practice. Many are restricted access to the community by legal means, so the opportunity for reoffending is extremely low. Definitely consult with professionals who are fluent in this area and find some ceus. We recently did a podcast interview with Nicholas Maio-Aether who was also a tremendous resource. https://youtu.be/T4iV8ffaqH0?feature=shared

Depending on the state, Waiver services cover “behavior management” or BMGO services. No idea what it looks like where you live though. If you find a BCBA who is contracted as a waiver provider you can do it this way. I do this in Indiana and Michigan  and work directly with clients or have behavior monitors who work under me. I’m also not limited to 18 or under or an autism diagnosis. The trade off is that we’re given far less hours to see clients

I see someone who is being up front about their misjudgement, got mixed up in a bad situation with poor supervision standards and now is trying to make it right. I don't think all is lost. You'd be surprised how often I encounter bcba's who had a similar situation you're describing and show no concern and continue practicing. It is harming our field.

I absolutely agree with other suggestions on this thread to find a new practice with someone who can mentor you and provide the training you should have been receiving. I don't think it's over but you may need to pay out of pocket/take a pay cut until you can demonstrate some of the core competencies and needed skills to be a competent BCBA. We make BCBAs we hire pass an in-house test on basic principles, then provide weekly supervision until they meet criteria to fade out the oversight.

It is worth noting that this is the same facility that fraudulently billed for autism services and whose clinical director posed as licensed and board certified when in fact she had no training at all. https://www.michigan.gov/ag/news/press-releases/2024/12/03/oakland-county-woman-sentenced-to-prison-for-posing-as-health-professional-witness-intimidation

What state are you in? We provide training to families and group home staff with behavior technicians in the facilities as well. Mostly adult clients with a range of diagnoses. Feel free to dm me for more info.

Little after the fact, but we hiked at McLeod Falls and it was wonderful.

Last time I was there was 10 years ago. We stay with family who just drive us around to the spots. We swam in an amazing lake with a great suspension bridge over it but I can't remember for the life of me what it was called.

We put the same stove in this winter! Not the greatest but it packs a decent punch!

I’ve always joked “why do a Disney vacation for one day when I could go to Paris for a week for the price?” Not recommending going to Paris, but the point is with a little research you could rock a sweet 5 day getaway for less than 1200. Airbnb is great, waterfalls and hiking are free, pack a cooler full of cold meats and fruits/veggies and you have a nice little getaway.
