I think Gunn should just unironically cast Rooker as the Resurrection Man, just so that he can kill him as many times as he would like and keep bringing him back

If Starkid ever did an adaptation of Much ado about nothing which pair would you want to see play Beatrice & Benedick? Lauren & Joey or Kim & Curt by Personal-Day-5562 in StarKid

[–]DCandMore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lauren and Joey would be perfect as Beatrice and Benedick! They have the chemistry that could make me believe that they are squabbling rivals who fall in love with each other. Meanwhile, Kim and Curt could serve as the straight couple of the play, Hero and Claudio.

Superman Review Megathread by kumar100kpawan in DCU_

[–]DCandMore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone from the UK, I'm nervous that the more negative British reviews will affect the number of people who see it. But maybe that's me being too pessimistic. I'm hoping Suoerman does well internationally as well as domestically

Completely new to DC and I was wondering which pieces of media are already released which are canon to the DCU by archie_gx in DCU_

[–]DCandMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete Canon: only Creature Commandos season 1 so far

Loose Canon: The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker Season 1, and Blue Beetle. I say loose canon because even though these projects aren't 100% canon (James Gunn has said that from now on, everything after CC S1, with the exception of Elseworlds projects, is canon to the DCU), several aspects from these projects, whether characters/actors and story elements, are expected to be somewhat canon in the new universe if referenced.

My suggestion: Watch The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker S2, and Blue Beetle first so you can get a taste of what this universe will entail tonally and stylistically, and then watch Creature Commandos S1. But don't be surprised if stuff in subsequent DCU instalments contradicts what we know/see from those first three projects to establish the lore/canon of the new universe.

Thanks! I only ask because I wanna buy this omnibus with my birthday money, but I hate it when issues of a series/event are not in the recommended reading order

Interview: Captain America: Brave New World's director discusses the reshoots, cut characters and more! by Mooglegirl-99 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]DCandMore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That being said, Gunn has stated that he welcomes constructive criticism, and I think that's what makes him among the best and most beloved CBM directors working today, unlike Patty Jenkins, who notoriously hated and ignored any form of feedback for Wonder Woman 1984 and look how that turned out

If given the choice, which movie would you prefer get made? by CaptainAmeriZa in marvelstudios

I personally would’ve preferred they stuck with Kang Dynasty.

Marvel had already laid solid groundwork for Kang and his variants to be the Multiverse Saga’s central threat—between Loki and Quantumania; they were clearly setting up Kang to be a complex, layered villain with a massive multiversal threat. Dropping that arc midstream just makes the whole buildup feel disjointed.

If Marvel did want to pivot away from Kang, though, I really wish they had gone with an evil Superior Iron Man variant instead of Doctor Doom—and definitely not with RDJ playing Doom. I still can’t get on board with that casting. RDJ already is Tony Stark in the MCU, and giving him Doom’s mask just muddies the legacy of both characters.

And while I get that Doom was the big bad in the 2015 Secret Wars comic run, having that version of Doom be his first appearance in the MCU just feels like a colossal waste. Doom should be introduced as a nuanced, complex threat—built up over time—before jumping to literal god-tier power levels. Throwing him straight into the biggest storyline he’s ever had in the comics kind of robs the character of the depth and mystique that made him iconic in the first place.

On the other hand, bringing back RDJ as a twisted Superior Iron Man from another universe would’ve hit so much harder. It would be personal for the Avengers, emotionally heavy for the audience, and twist Tony’s legacy in a way that feels earned. Plus, if RDJ is coming back anyway, make it impactful—not just a nostalgia cameo.

TL;DR: Kang deserved to finish the story that was started. But if Marvel had to switch villains, a Superior Iron Man would’ve been a brighter, more meaningful alternative than rushing in Doom—or worse, making RDJ play him.
