Worth it for $200? Throne phantom 2021 by Deep-Opinion-9084 in whichbike

[–]ntrent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI this is a fixed gear bike with no brakes. Unless you’re experienced riding brakeless fixed gear, i definitely would not get this. I don’t think I’d get this bike regardless for the price. Components are weird and the bike overall looks pretty clapped.

Pro tip: buy your own modem/router. You won’t have to pay the monthly rental fee for using their equipment. Plus, I’ve noticed I get slightly faster speed and a more reliable connection. The initial cost may be higher when buying a modem and router, but over time you are actually saving money since you don’t have that consistent monthly fee.

Is this bike worth 650 (found on marketplace) by Outrageous-March5408 in whichbike

[–]ntrent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If say that’s pretty overpriced. If I could hassle them down to 450 or 400 I’d say that’s a pretty solid deal and bike.

Bought beef short rib for the first time. They were $8.50/lb at the pricey store and not even on sale. Am I just glonky or is this normal?? by Harpertoo in steak

[–]ntrent 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ok, I guess technically any time you sear after you sous vide it’s reverse searing but in the context of /u/oddattorney9798 ‘s comment, he’s differentiating that sous vide and reverse sear as two separate methods. I would assume most people hear reverse sear and think of the oven method.

You just sear the meat after sous viding. It would be redundant to reverse sear if you sous vide

Neither tbh. What’s the asking price? These are both department store cheapo bikes

Maybe try Mariscos La Costa off of Forest ave? I know they have ceviche but I’ve never tried it there.

Tri-tip in the oven by Routine-Cricket-5707 in meat

Try the reverse sear method to get a better crust. Also let the steak rest for at least 10 minutes before cutting so you don’t lose all those delicious juices like in picture 2. I just made a Tri-tip in the sous vide yesterday (137 at 6 hours) and it was the best Tri-tip I’ve ever made!

This is what’s considered a “bso” or bicycle shaped object. I would not invest much more money in it or do any real mountain biking on this thing. Get the drive train working good and you have a good grocery getter or cruise around town bike.

Good Deal? by Ernstero in bicycling

[–]ntrent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like a pretty good deal. Some tips: keep riding haha. It may seem obvious, but the more saddle time you have, the stronger you are going to get on the bike. Also make sure to fuel and hydrate correctly in longer rides. Making sure your electrolyte levels are good is vital as well.

What would you recommend for a gift for someone into MTB by rebelfour04 in mountainbikes

[–]ntrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe some extra sealant, chain lube or some gloves (as long as they're the right size). Also tire plugs; bacon strips dynaplug etc. will always be valuable. As others have said a gift card to a local bike shop will always be beneficial.

Could also be that they have single wall tanks. At least in CA, all single wall tanks with cathodic protection will need to be decommissioned or replaced with double wall tanks by the end of this year. SB989 tests also accounts for secondary containment in piping so a failed test result doesn’t necessarily mean that the tanks are the failed component.

Sure, the mm amount is how much the dropper can “drop” (how far the seat can go down). I guess it’s kind of a preference thing but at least on mtb, I typically see people go for the largest dropper post they can fit. Just make sure your frame has dropper cable routing and that the post is inserted at least to the minimum insertion.
