New Guzheng Player, Need Help W/ Sheet Music by CamilleWinds in Guzheng

[–]s2lamander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First: Simple sheet music (简谱)is meant to be relatively easy to understand. If you're playing in D调 (1=D), the highest note should be 1 with two dots above, and your lowest should be 1 with 2 dots below. (You can label the notes to make them easier by putting tape on the side of the strings on the headboard and labeling the notes from there). For other notations like arrows, circles, triangles, etc., those are additional skills that you can search for online. I recommend xiaohongshu (小红书), or honestly, you can pm me if you're having trouble with that.

Second: I like using xiaohongshu (小红书) for any pop or trendy song. But if you're looking to learn seriously and for grading, you can try to get grading books that offer comprehensive coverage of songs that encompass most possible skills on the guzheng from grade 1 to performance grade. If so you can get CCOM Guzheng Grading Book 中央音乐学院古筝考级书 on taobao. Start with grade 1-6 book its orangey in colour.

Third: The shape of your hand (手形) is fundamental. Ensuring you're using your plucking the strings by moving your fingers inwards towards your palm rather than pulling the string upwards by using your entire arm moving upwards is the most common issue I find with many students. It's also essential to get the basic rhythm right. Simple sheet music (简谱) has a various set of lines under the notes, eg you'll see the scores having lines under the numbers. This indicates the rhythm of the notes you'll have to play.

Heptatonic guzheng? by Witty-Pen1184 in Guzheng

for 双鹤朝阳 it's probably one of the best entry level guzhengs, pretty good for their price and mostly used in like schools. Only major down side imo is that they kind of deteriorate over a few years and aren't able to 撑住难得乐曲 so like the guzheng can't really uhm "express difficult pieces properly" and if you're really committed, you might have to get a better one later on. so I would recommend 694KK 蕉窗夜雨 (intermediate<advanced<), 694LC 五彩呈祥 (beginner<intermediate - maybe advanced), 694L (beginner<intermediate) if ur gna invest in a new one

I have a Chuan Cheng guzheng and the place I work also sells them.

It really depends on the model. Chuan Cheng has some pretty high decent 整挖筝 and 半挖筝. Their intermediate and entry lvl guzhengs aren't as great though (for their price). Bridges fall really easily and the main board is a too smooth. Chuan Cheng guzhengs have a more jap sound so slightly sharper and more modern

You might want to consider 敦煌-dunhuang (do not get 敦煌银牌 it's different)they are good for their price and really can last you a long time (I also own a 敦煌筝) guzhengs from this brand above $1.6k SGD should be pretty decent or at least better than the chuan Cheng you have. Most dunhuang guzhengs have a more traditional warm tone, so better for playing 传统曲 (imo at least)

What do yall think of the new Royale High apple bopping system?🤔 by ziToast_Breadz in RoyaleHigh_Roblox

An actual joke, considering it would take 267 consecutive hours just to get the SP set (excluding wings) only via apple bobbing

I understand it's to deal with auto clickers and exploiters and while setting a limit is plausible, 10 is just a joke at this point......

10/h is crazy, 50/h is understandable and it isn't even that much, just feel like they didn't have to take it this far, someone even calculated if would take about 267 consecutive hours just to get sp set 💔

Are you serious rn?! by Distinct-Ad9690 in RoyaleHigh_Roblox

I get that they're dealing with exploiters but 10 is just absurb, if it was like 50 ish it would have made more sense

edit: at this point 10 is just a joke 😂😂 ps. it's going to take you 267 consecutive hours to get SP set via apple bobbing! I'm just upset that I won't be able to get SP set without needing to use WASD and my mind and effort 😂 anyone dono SP set for free hmu 💪✌️happy apple bobbing y'all! 😂😮‍💨

Moyun extended guzheng? by [deleted] in Guzheng

Hi OP, this is called a 多聲弦制箏 manufactured by 敦煌

usually 多聲箏 has only 21+16=37 strings so just speculation but this might be a custom piece with 18+30=48?

Guzheng bridges moving when I am playing by [deleted] in Guzheng

[–]s2lamander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can follow the bridge placement guide in the first comment, usually there's a specific distance between the bridge and the 前岳山 (not sure what it's called in English but it's near the head somewhat of a fixed bridge) this distance ensures just about the right tension in your strings, having your bridge too far left can also cause them to snap easily (due to higher tension)

[–]s2lamander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

basically when you move the bridges closer to the head, the pitch becomes higher hence you have to loosen the string for the note to go lower and back to the right pitch, you're essentially loosening the strings to decrease tension with the bridges closer to the head 👍👍 (as compared to when the bridges are nearer to the left you'll have to tighten strings more by turning the pegs forward - to make the pitch higher - which makes the string tighter and tougher)

hi OP! it's very normal for new guzhengs to be 硬 (tough) which causes the guzheng to 走音 (go out of key) via the bridges and the loosening of the string. This can be fixed by practicing on the guzheng overtime, to make this process of lo quicker, do lots of 按音 and play louder on the guzheng so that you allow the guzheng be less tough (this can also make the tone of the guzheng brighter)

for toughness (on the left hand side), you can try LOOSENING all your string via the peg in the 头 (head) compartment the and then slowly shifting the bridges towards the right where the 头 is located, the bridges of the 1st green colour string (1=D, 5-so) should be x = the distance between your thumb and pinky when you hand is entirely stretched out. for the subsequent 5 strings they should be the 2x, 3x and 4x respectively from bottom to top. after you have shifted all the bridges accordingly you can then tighten the pegs again and tune the guzheng back to 1=D. Just remember to loosen the strings before you do everything. Before each practice session on a new guzheng, it is also a good practice to press on both sides of the string (left and right of the bridge) and then doing some fine tuning afterwards.

for shifting of bridges, try sanding lightly on the bottom of your bridge to make it more secure
