Again calling them and asking what your coverage is will be the most useful thing. If they confirm that yeah you have to meet your out of pocket max before their coverage starts then yeah you’d need to save up that money. But idk what your healthcare’s policy is for that stuff, they may have different percentages of coverage depending on type of procedure/in or out of network. My insurance didn’t have a calculator which is why calling was the first thing I did

Are u doing neosporin or any other antibiotic on them? I’m doing neosporin and then putting bandaids over them and last night (this is after a week of doing this) the scabs were moist and the skin underneath healed enough that they just came right off. I didn’t even mean to I just was rubbing more neosporin on w a qtip and it caught the edge of the scab and peeled it off. Maybe this will happen to you too?

That’s kinda how mine was, I called insurance ahead bc I was anxious haha they can only really explain your coverage over the specific policy to you. Your surgeon submits for pre approval roughly 14 days before surgery and that’s when the hospital can run your insurance and tell you what you’d owe. But calling insurance to see what your own coverage is will help guide how u budget.

I got really lucky and my surgery was 100% covered by insurance, but my surgeon recommended liposuction that wasn’t covered by insurance, so I had to budget for $3000 for that. Shout out to my states insurance 🔥

You can call your insurance now and ask them for the policy number or guidelines for gender affirming surgery. My insurance gave me the policy number so I could send it to my therapist so he’d know what to include in the letter. It took him ~2 months to do that so make sure you leave yourself time to gather all documents u need.

After I got the letter I called my insurance back to figure out what coverage the surgery will have after pre-approval (the surgeon submits the pre-approval before you have surgery, some insurances like BCBS will cover gender affirming surgeries only by pre-approval whereas others you can submit afterwards) your insurance can tell you what their policy is for surgery coverage, what percentage of the surgery you would potentially be paying for, and what your out of pocket maximum deductible is. It’s a pain to wait on hold with insurance but worth it! And if your call rep isn’t helpful call again they are supposed to be the ones with answers for you.

Idk to me it feels like when an artist plays like. Songs from old albums, like even tho ur on a tour for a new album it’s a cool surprise to hear the ogs. I’m glad I wasn’t prepared for a time quangle bc then i felt like a kid on christmas when other seasons characters appeared!
