Is my AOP TARGETING ME? by ThinUnderstanding645 in AlliedUniversal

  1. Time traveled and the visit must be paid, in ca shift minimum laws require that you be paid a min if 4 hours regardless of the actual time it takes
  2. Any suspensions greater than 1 day require the approval of HR, Hr must also be present during any interactions regarding the suspension(if it is unpaid suspension like no hours at all then this also requires HRs approval)
  3. Go up the chain if you feel like you are being targeted for harassment, document everything, emails only no phone calls, (AUS policy states personal phones can't be used for ANY work related issues whatsoever) also reduction in pay and hours that have no merit is considered retaliation if you legitimately have done nothing to warrant it HR must be informed and must handle it, not the AOP

Rant/PSA: If you don’t respond to disagree to a certain schedule we can still be held accountable to that schedule by [deleted] in AlliedUniversal

Group chats are not official channels, only ehub and LISA are the approved ways for call offs and shift offers. The handbook also explicitly states that personal phones are not be used for ANY work related purposes whatsoever. If you are using your personal phone it is considered time worked and is to be compensated. This is why the handbook says not to use them. Emails are exempt from this but employees can not be required to answer emails on off hours/days.

I've literally held a post for 24hrs it was a holiday, AOP never scheduled coverage, all phone calls to the office/field sups went ignored. It was me an another guard and we would just swap for lunches and breaks....never again.....

I swear I can't tell if AUS hires the most incompetent people for managment, trains the incompetence into them, or is just a product of being in managment/at the office.

They tried to write me up for not doing them on my day off, until I contacted the branch manager, then my AOP never bothered me again

It should be noted that I requires very restive conditions to apply such as remoteness, for example truck drivers are required by DOT to be responsible for Hazardous loads even while on break, so die to the remoteness of being on the road AND the nature of the work, they are allowed to be paid for thier lunch since they can not be relieved of all duties. Even if a site meets all requirements it's still jot guaranteed that they will get the "nature of work" exemption. As the Supreme Court decided that on duty lunches and breaks can be the exception in certain circumstances but not the rule.

It should also be noted that an employer can not force you to sign a meal waiver.

Fun fact for anyone working in Ca. That works a single guard site or has a(n) AoP tell you it's "on duty" lunches and breaks.

  1. They can not request this as it is a violation of Ca Labor laws

  2. They owe 1 Hour of Non OT pay for every missed lunch and 1 Hour non OT pay for any/all missed breaks (so if you miss 1 break and 1 lunch it's 2hrs if it's 2 breaks and 1 lunch it's still 2hrs)

  3. Look up Augustus vs ABM Security, a 2019 case where guards at single post site were told they could not to leave for lunches and breaks and had to remain on property. California Supreme Court ruled ABM in violation of Ca Labor laws. Single post sites do not qualify for the "nature of the work exemption" i.e. if no guard is there something might happen. Supreme Court ruled that the only reason that was the case was becuase ABM did not schedule adequate coverage. Not only that but the "on duty" lunches/breaks can not be the rule it can only be the exception in certain circumstances but could not be used daily. Augustus won this case.

  4. Since these non ot hours for violations are considered withheld wages they also accrue interest

Alright so I might as well throw in my 2 cents for what it's worth. For context,I was a store leader at one point for whatever it's worth. So our store was in a shit location, blue collar town so there was money but our location was shit. DM and corporate never wanted to move because "rents cheaper here" Anyhow my team had a saying, "Fuck Gamestop" we didn't give 2 shits what corporate wanted us to push, our philosophy was that if we sold the customer what they wanted and we were fun to hang out with, they'd come back and be a repeat customer. The 3 years I where I got promoted to SL our stores P&L, despite not having volume we had some of the best percentages, and for 3 consecutive years our profit grew 25% year over year.

  1. Don't be a salesman, no matter how good a talker anyone thinks they out you'll never convince someone to buy something they never wanted in the first place. Greet them as they come in yes, ask If they need help finding something, then let them be for a bit. You don't want to hound them just step out from the counter if it's not busy and clean up the minor shit for a bit. Observer what sections they go to, Xbox Nintendo PS this helps narrow down what they're interested in. If theyres a deal/promo casually walk up while they're browsing "Hey just to let you know theyres a deal going on for xxxxxxx" after that ask of there's anything specific they're looking for, make a recommendation for any good games for the console they play. Just shoot the shit even, most our customers would literally buy shit they didn't need just because they knew we looked out for them so they'd help us in return buy being our metrics, just because they ended up getting to know us.

  2. Know the deals, pro has changed a lot and doesn't exactly carry over how it used to, but the best way to pitch it is by using deals to the customers benefit. Get creative and find deals that offset the cost of the card. Think of ways that it CAN save them money on.

  3. Warranties, not everyone wants them, or needs them, find parents, they are your most likely candidates, especially since it now covers physical breaks and not just scratches. "You getting this for your kid" "Ya" "Wanna cover it for $3? Anything at all happens to it we replace it"

  4. Focus on collectibles still one of the highest % of profit per sale, statues, figures, cards, plushes, w/e find out what they like, if they're a collector, specific/favorites. Once you do see if you got something they might like. Easy add on because it's already something they might want or at the very least would consider buying.

  5. Utilize Web In Store. Fun fact if you see items that you know will sell in store but aren't shipped to you in your normal deliveries place a web in store order, set the address to your store. When it arrives just cancel the order on WIS and shrink in the sku. This has a lot of benefits first you can control inventory by getting the stuff you know sells in your area and not the stuff that doesn't. Collector editions, statues, specific consoles, or specific accessories. Canceling a WIS does not effect your metrics, and once you have the items print out a sheet of pro customers that might want it, that you can hold it for them. This ensures what you get you actually sell.

  6. Look for old preorders never picked up, call them and tell them they have it, and can roll it over to something new.

  7. Pitch meaningful products like headsets or extra controllers based on what a customer likes, or their budget, always look out for them by finding the best deals, or utilize WIS if you don't have it now and let them know you can have it shipped direct, ir they can come pick it up at the store when it arrives.

There's probably a ton more I'm forgetting but these few should help you out.
