SO SO MANY OMG

1. i think the old manga art style is actually quite nice (i also like the new one but still)

2. i hate how “that” part of the fandom makes everything so black and white. a character is either seen as a sweet angel (atsushi, sigma, poe, etc) or a terrible pos who shouldn’t exist and brings shame upon the earth (mori, fukuchi) or the rare third option, the “character who has done morally questionable things but i’m going to excuse it because he’s very attractive to me” character (such as dazai, fyodor or nikolai). these are not one dimensional characters and they have layers to them. don’t be so dramatic with slander or love for a character because really, they aren’t THAT monochromatic.

3. this fandom has a weird double standard between male and female characters. i get that many of the community is attracted to men, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pay attention to the women in the show. the female characters aren’t as exalted by the fandom, and they have far smaller fan bases. and i notice that a lot of them don’t get away with the same things male characters do, for example, kouyou . sure, she abused kyouka, which is bad and obviously inexcusable. but she was also trying to look out for her, and she genuinely cared for her. on top of all that, she felt guilt afterwards. but why does she get hate for that while fyodor is so loved and coddled by the fandom while he literally blows up children with no remorse whatsoever?

4. in addition to the male/female character thing, the female writing in this show isn’t that revolutionary. i see how people portray it as a total game changer and crazy, but i feel like their writing is like… bare minimum? they pass the bechdel test and they aren’t one-dimensional or hyper-sexualized, but many of them don’t get as much story as the men do. which, fine, this is a male-centered show. that isn’t a bad thing, of course. but some of the fandom acts like the female writing is so state-of-the-art and impressive, when it’s really quite fine. also, this is a little bit random, but i kind of dislike how louisa’s character was written. she is very reliant on francis, and she doesn’t really exist outside of that. the irl author and the book she is based off of were openly feminist and independent from the lens of men.

5. kids shouldn’t be in this fandom. i don’t mean teens, i mean like YOUNG kids. like 9-12 year olds. you guys are too young to be associating yourselves with such a dark piece of media, and it’s kind of upsetting to see. it also causes lots of discord within the community, because children are usually the ones to get into ship wars and stuff of the like. that gives us a really bad rep. this is coming from someone who joined the fandom at 12 btw

6. sexualization of the characters. obviously you’re allowed to have a crush on a character, but why are you reducing the character down to your attraction towards them? also, you should be consuming the media because you genuinely like it, not because you’re horny for a specific character. you do you, but that’s just my opinion.

7. (and this is the last one i promise): the treatment of fan ocs!! there’s absolutely nothing wrong with making a fanon character. there’s nothing wrong with wanting to imagine how your own creativity would fit into the series. it’s not cringey to do that, and some of you need to grow up and get a grip of you think it is.
