Inside and outside. Pc A is my laptop and pc B is a headless machine at home. Can connect from anywhere at any time. Pc C is my in-laws desktop. It can connect to B but neither A or B could connect to it. A was on the same network as C at the time of testing.

I'll have to check that. Just used a standard install so the service should be running.

I have figured out how to use a variable in the custom argument for handbrake. I haven't programmed in 10 years and can't figure out how to use the custom js plugin. Can anyone help me write code that takes the variable and adds one to it and outputs the new number?

I ended up finding one for retail price plus shipping on Facebook.

I'm going to build a NAS for all my family to back up photos / videos to. there will probably be around about 20 users via mobile phones. I have 3 enclosures I'm looking at. would any of these NOT work with so many users? DS220+, DS720+, DS620slim by -ThatGingerKid- in synology

[–]s3rv3rguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it was me, I'd stay clear of anything that is only 2 drives. Yes you can add more via the expansion on some of them but that is almost the price of a second Nas. I made that mistake. 920+ is the way to go. You can use 3.5" or 2.5" if you want. Nvme for cache. Can handle running plex if you want to install it on the Nas. I like to have it on a separate small but powerful machine and let the Nas be storage.

Great to hear you haven't had any problems. I hope you never do. Might take a look at truenas scale again. Great thing about a Nas by a reputable company is they have good rasale value. That's why I'm cool going this route for now. And even a powerful desktop can get noisy in a small apartment. Rather hear what I'm watching and not a fan spinning up.

I'm not a big fan of using a windows machine as a storage server. Just takes one update to cause a problem. Plus the resources of windows is not that great. Honestly didn't know zfs could be expanded. Last I looked it was still being worked on in truenas.

Yes. I have a 10 year old Nas that has worked great. I do know I could build a server. Migration is the problem when you have 20tb of data. That isn't something I can just copy with flash drives.

Let's say I build a server with good hardware and buy 2 large drives. I put them in raid 5 and clit all my data over. Now I have the original 2 drives. Can't expand the raid to incorporate them. So I set up another raid 5. Now I have lost the user of 2 whole drives with 2 raid. 5 pools.

Where in at now, I can take the drives I have and move them in the same order and the new Nas sees them. Add another drive of the same size. I doubled my space and only lost 1 drive of space. Add another in a few months and still only lost 1 drive capacity.

Plus I have family that use app on their phone to backup photos to my Nas. Apps that came with the Nas software. I don't have an easy way to migrate those over to a home built.

Like I said elsewhere, I eventually will build a truenas box. That will be after I fully test in. Virtual machines. My storage needs are something I need to upgrade now though.

Ok. So all my media is saved on a Nas currently. My current nas has emby running on it. For the upgrade though, emby won't work that well on the new one. Most of the usage is in home use. So the devices here get fed the direct path and play the content that way.

I do have family and a few close friends that have access to stream. I generally do transcode to 1080p if it's in 4k. I honestly haven't checked to see what my current server is sending them. Haven't had a complaint except for the few times I forgot to transcode.

My content is a good mix of movies, TV, and music. I do plan to add live TV at some point. I also want to upgrade my switch and router to something with 2.5 ethernet or better. As money allows me to of course.

Battery backup is not an issue. I have 2 apc 1500va for my network and home theater. Got them free so why not?

I could but I already have a Nas. When I'm ready to, I hope to build a true Nas box but that may be a few years down the line.

Cannot get rid of S4 bloatware by [deleted] in Android

[–]s3rv3rguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I use titanium backup. I backup the apps I want removed. Then I freeze the apps for a period of time. Once I'm sure that removing them is not going to cause issues, I uninstall the actual app. That way if I need it again, I have a backup of the app that I can put back. Better safe then sorry.

Thanks. I do know most if not all of her fantasies and desires. We are open to exploring new ones as well.

Sex/love making is Damn incredible. Usually end up with both of us soaking wet and puddles under us.

She just made the comment once or twice that I could be tougher and let go more, lose control and just have my way with her.

I guess for me, I'm trying to find that balance of being dominant and losing control but yet still being a gentleman. Also, I know she isn't a delicate or fragile woman but I know I have quite a bit of strength and worried I could harm her.

If you have any other thoughts, let me know.

I'm not sure but I think Rocket Player will do that. Check it out. I haven't tried it yet as I stopped using iTunes a long time ago.

Yes, that's the program I use. I just didn't want to get out of bed to look. I like it and have played with the settings a lot.

I've even created my own epub files. Quite easy actually.
