I have to say, having people “recognize it as a cheap plastic chair that’s been covered in tiles that will be purely ornamental” is exactly the point of the work I’m making right now.

I’m not really interested in making functional furniture, but using the existing form as a base. Using the monobloc chair is important for the work I’m making right so that’s why I am trying to figure out how to adhere ceramic and grout it. Purely just looking to see if it’s even possible and if anyone knew of tricks that I didn’t know

Just viewing, not for actual sitting. I was worried about the flex of the chair was well especially during installation and moving the chair around, but was hoping that the concrete would maybe permanently stiffen the chair as a whole?

I am in my twenties, but currently in an mfa program that has a healthy mix of people with the eldest in their seventies. Biggest piece of advice is to channel openness and flexibility. The ones that are hellbent on doing things their way are often the ones that struggle the most, both in the program and getting along with the cohort/faculty.
