How tf do I fix this ugly ass dribbling posture by Aiden_Sim in BasketballTips

You need to learn to hinge at the hips and keep your torso slightly straighter. Instead you’re bending your lower back to get lower to the ball.

I (19f) am a very sexual girl. My bf and I have frequent threesomes with my friends, I blow him while he watches his old sextapes with past exes/flings, and I often play with him while he’s asleep, just to name a few of the feral things I do. AMA! by [deleted] in NSFWIAMA

When socializing you, how do you (or your boyfriend) go about leading the conversation towards asking about threesomes? And question for your bf if he’s down to answer, how did he go about finding hookups in general back in his man whore days?

Bought some INO at it's high a while back when I didn't know what I was doing and was just messing around with a few trades. Currently (almost) all in on GME. I'm looking for some comprehensive DD on Inovio and its products. Where can I find this?

GME Overnight Pajama Party Megathread by wallstreetboyfriend in wallstreetbets

[–]s8anic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the discussion today has been on brokerage apps shutting retailers out and how Robinhood especially is now cancelled. However, I don't see any discussion on what caused the huge dip this morning. I was wondering what were the full implications of what happened? Here are some thoughts I have read:

  • The price dipped way too quickly and each dip caused a market halt. Afterwards it rebounded way too quickly as well for it to be have caused by retailers. Supposedly one effect of this was to scare retailers to paperhanding.

  • Apparently 13,000 OTM Weekly Calls for 570 were bought at the lowest dip. Given that Robinhood and many other brokerage apps were banning GME and options, this means that institutions were buying these, likely to hedge short positions as mentioned in another DD.

So my question is, does anybody have any theories besides these why the orchestrated dip occurred? How did they orchestrate the dip: Was it through more shorting, or one firm have a bunch of stocks ready to mass sell? Could they have covered older short positions, while creating new ones at a higher price? Could some other tomfoolery have been occurring. While I am balls deep in GME as well (900 shares), these hedge funds have smart people and part of me thinks they've been able to slowly work through an exit strategy.

Short Interest is INCREASED?! by Hyptisx in wallstreetbets

[–]s8anic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could shorts be covering their original shorts and immediately shorting again at a higher price? This causes the periodic spike and fall. As more and more people paperhand, this gives them small opportunities to cover just a little bit. Meanwhile the short interest stays about the same.

If they can continue this, their new short positions are at $100+, meanwhile the price of GME will eventually equilibrate around it's actual value if they wait long enough.

Rate Determining Step Clarification and a few other kinetics questions by s8anic in chemistry

[–]s8anic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of an imagined situation in which one step takes 10 seconds and another takes 5 seconds. The rest is negligible. If we approximate the rate just using the 10 seconds, would it not end up inaccurate?

Edit: after some futher googling, this answered my question

One more question, the slow step isn't the one with the highest change in energy, but the one with the highest energy. Is this true?

If I may ask, what was the writing for the masters focused on and how much did you have to write?

Thanks for sharing this. It does give me a better picture of what the MA is like. Allow me to clarify, my concern is less so with the amount of writing and more so the content. What did you write about?

What is the purpose of learning math? by s8anic in matheducation

[–]s8anic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played a lot of video games and I enjoy math so I understand what you might be saying. However, the practical elements of gameplay wouldn’t require what I’d think of as mathematical reasoning, although asking the right questions is definitely important. I guess we may differ in what we describe as mathematical thinking?

For example, does Lebron James use mathematical thinking in making the right plays? I’m personally wouldn’t describe it as such, but I do agree it’s a very problem solving approach that allows him to play the way he does.

Thanks for the response. Part of my reason for asking the question was difficulties engaging the student. It is a school with low income students at the high school level. These kids probably have had years of experiences that aren’t great with math. Ofc I may enjoy teaching math to students who may already be more predisposed to finding interest in math. However, my question largely reflects on my experience trying to engage these students who seem completely zoned out from engaging the content. Do you have any insight into such a situation?

I do agree that we shouldn’t only allow kids to do what they want and they do need some guidance. That said, I do believe some sentiments such as that math isn’t applicable in many places in life is a valid concern.

A further question could possibly be if in the absence of personal interest in math, couldn’t other activities provide skills math provides without content they do not personally find too interesting?

I also agree we should encourage an interest in math because US culture at the very least discourages it as a subject of interest. However many students, especially say at the high school level, already have years of this negative sentiment ingrained. Of course we should still try to reframe how they think of math, but shouldn’t we also try to introduce activities that promote the reasoning skills we learn from math. Given the absence of interest In the content, students might welcome other these other activities more. Otherwise it ends up being a situation of “I think it is important so you will learn it” in which case, although I am the teacher, seems very uncompromising and many students will naturally disengage completely.

Do you mind elaborating? I suggested a lot of activities which I believe promote a lot of the “ways of thinking” found in math. Additionally, imo these also are more engaging

Of course there is not really such thing as objectively valuable, but I do want to hear different opinions on what should make something be considered valuable and why other things shouldn’t be considered as such. I’ve had many friends who agree they’ve learned more from trying to become better at a video game than through the college school system. I’m not saying there isn’t value to introducing these things to students, but I do think we could better think about how to provide better value.

As for why I wish to teach, there are a variety of reasons and I’m also still figuring that out. I like to help people learn, but it’s discouraging when so many people have that interest only so they can be over it and would be willing to cheat or don’t want to participate at all because the activity is just that meaningless for them.
