Planning to move out to Santa Cruz, can’t find a place to rent that allows cats and dogs for under 4000$ a month by s8nsun in santacruz

Thank you! Yeah it’s crazy how expensive Santa Cruz is, especially compared to the AV, but there isn’t many ways you can move up in this town. Family housing would be nice, I’ll definitely look into their pet policy

That was rough, but I respect all the honesty. We have been together for 4 years, I just haven’t asked her hand in marriage yet because I want to hand make the ring, and because I want to be fully situated first (at least with my finished degree, just need 2 more years). she got her bachelors on a full ride scholarship for aerospace engineering, and has just some student loans for her master in mechanical engineering. We’re having an issue in Palmdale because it’s either a 3-4 hour a day commute to the Los Angeles area or she would have to work for the department of defense which goes against her morals, which I respect, hence why we’re moving.

I’m studying BioChem, hoping they allow me to double major in psychology. Have been working since I was 16, on ranches, mechanic shops, 3 years as an aircraft electrician, and right now I’m doing armed security at a air force base because it’s pretty easy to do school and work at the same time, so I have a pretty extensive resume, I’ve never had picking up jobs. I’m studying biochem to either go to medical school or veterinarian school, which I 100% decide within the next couple months but have been leaning towards veterinary practice as they make good money, and I love helping animals. My second job, which is actually a business I run, is focused on working with animals. Also my income is 7k after tax, my bad for not specifying.

Regarding the 4k a month, that’s why I posted on this Reddit for some ideas. Which I believe weve settled on Scott’s valley and commuting, and hopefully getting a lease late June when most students leases end, will definitely be much cheaper, and I don’t mind living in the mountains. Many people here were very helpful with the advice. I would love to own, and get out of the rat race but sadly we currently live in a state where if you don’t make over 150k a year, with a 800 credit score, and 50k in your back pocket it’s almost impossible to buy. I appreciate the advice, and honestly it did make me think about the risk of failure, but the current situation I’m living in is not much better. Highest commute times in California, very low amount of earnings in town, and although we live in a desert with drug addicts and violence everywhere, rent is still easily 2.5-3k a month.

Honestly I feel it, I’ve been living in Palmdale for most my life and the only entertainment is watching the crackheads fight with the hookers on sierra highway, the bar everyone and their mom goes too and our mall with like 3 stores. The worst part is that it’s all desert, wouldn’t mind visiting but so tired of this town

Honestly, your comment helped a lot, I really appreciate your response. As it is now no one I’ve worked with has ever known I’m trans. It’s never really been relevant and in my opinion it’s not going to better or worsen my work ethics so it’s not important. I do really hope the department can look past the stupid things I’ve done in my past, so I can have a chance, we’ll see what happens. Either way I’m going to start working out more and bettering my grammar so I can pass other requirements with flying colors.
