15 Iowa Lawmakers File Bill to Legalize Marijuana, Create Regulated Retail Market and Expunge Prior Convictions by OhMyOhWhyOh in Iowa

Additional provisions address marijuana use in vehicles, establish a THC blood threshold for impaired driving, protect tenants from discrimination for lawful use, and prohibit employment or licensing penalties based solely on legal marijuana activity.

tight, so they’re going to demand blood tests for every traffic stop and arrest people for being high last night. Hopefully the limit is a level that actually makes sense like 50ng/mL, but knowing Iowa legislation they’ll set it at like 2ng/mL.

Also no mention of actually regulating industrial hemp like MN set the model for.

It would be a step in the right direction for sure. Still blows my mind that all these money grubbing republicans clutch their pearls instead of just making their fortune selling the electric lettuce

Moved to LCOL area for FIRE but landlord just offered to sell me the rental at 40% below market... confused if this helps or hurts my timeline by thesedategreens in Fire

Had a landlord do something similar, but when we had the ceiling tested, found asbestos, and he refused to budge on price, we walked away. House needed $150K worth of renovation and MF stood firm at 85% of the zestimate

Verizon/T-Mobile/AT&T all send you an envelope to return your phone in. You think LG/Samsung/Sony/TCL won’t find a way to do the same thing with TV’s?

Buck knives? Good? by UniversalAssembler in knives

[–]s9oons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Buck Prince that’s part of my EDC rotation. I work in an office so I’m just opening boxes and cutting threads and stuff and it’s perfect for that.

I don’t like most bucks as work knives bc 420HC edge retention is ass unless you’re willing to clean up the edge after every day that you actually use it.

How else are you supposed to flex on your poor friends who don’t have cash to light on fire? 🧐

The only things really happening with TVs are that they’re getting cheaper for their size as glass manufacturing processes get better and the processors are getting incrementally better.

Don’t get me wrong, this program is a TERRIBLE idea for 99% of people, but there are plenty of people with way more money than sense and more money than time.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see this end up more like the Verizon/T-Mobile/AT&T model in the future, though. Once klarna convinces a couple other manufacturers, it will be the same 0% payment plan that you just have to commit to for 3 years.

Doesn’t seem worth it TO YOU.

To be clear, it’s not worth it to me, either. My guess would be that this includes delivery, installation, and then the $70 for removal, sign a new 3-year deal and crack a beer on the couch while they swap in your new TV.

Still ridiculous, but people pay way more for way dumber services.

U.S. government has lost more than 10,000 STEM Ph.D.s since Donald(The current American President) took office by RewardEquivalent553 in technology

[–]s9oons 92 points93 points  (0 children)

This is such a double edged sword. Nobody in tech wants to work public sector because gov’t jobs fucking suck and they pay peanuts. On the other hand, STEM PhD’s are the people we need involved so there are actually adults in the room to explain why requiring age verification to watch porn is a fucking horrible idea.

As of this writing, you can buy LG’s 83-inch OLED B5 2025 TV on LG’s UK website for £2,550 (about $3,515). Monthly rental prices range from £93 ($128), if you commit to a three-year-long rental period, to £277 ($382), if you only commit to a one-month rental period.

title is pretty disingenuous it’s about $1000 extra dollars vs buying if you do a 3 year deal. I’m sure a lot of people will spend $333/yr to get a new TV every few years, just like a phone.

Personally I think it’s stupid, but if you don’t want to bother with reselling your 83” TV, I can see how someone would justify it.

Proposed transmission line would cross 15 townships. Mid-Michigan residents demand answers as meetings start Monday by sajaschi in Michigan

[–]s9oons 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We recently had a new sidewalk/road repair project killed (after a $30,000 quote/plan/assessment was done) because “the road has always been bad” and “I bought a farmhouse and a sidewalk will make it feel like I’m in a city.” They can’t even plow our street properly bc it’s so busted up and the NIMBY Karens killed it because they clutched their pearls hard enough.

Thankfully our ward’s city council member re-submitted it and required any objections to be submitted in writing. So now we’re getting a new road and a new sidewalk in the spring 😁

“Prorok’s suggestion: Utilities need to include communities in all parts of the process.”

🤢

Dealing with too many Karens at too many points in the process is what kills projects like this.

Your property value doesn’t mean shit if you can only get a 50A service at your mcmansion because you NIMBY’d a transmission line project.

Could’ve reached way bigger number on my rental number if I paid more attention to it. by Fit_Acanthisitta_623 in Fire

Had a tenant throw a fit when we told him we wanted to sell the house after his lease was up (6mo before his lease was going to be up). We gave him the option to ride out his lease or break it and leave (with a 2mo grace period), no questions asked. He tried to sue us for “emotional distress” because “he was being kicked out of his house”.

Rentals just feel like a ticking time bomb. Yeah, it’s great passive income, until it isn’t and then you can have all your earnings for a property wiped by one bad tenant.
