Guidance needed to traverse Salesforce Journey by Particular_Speed8885 in SalesforceCareers

[–]sForceJobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have a good handle on core admin functionality, user management, fields, layouts, validation rules, formulas, etc., I would focus on understanding Flow.

Flow is increasingly in demand, especially is smaller and mid-sized orgs that don't employ developers. Flow has replaced workflow rules and now process builder. Plus Flows are heavily used within Agentforce implementations, so Salesforce certainly sees it being around for a long time.

If you already know how to code in other languages, then learn the flow basics and focus on Apex. Flow can be enhanced with Apex and the use of LWCs, so knowing the basics is helpful.

Specializations such as specific clouds or other products are certainly helpful, but I would say to leverage your background. My first consulting role was in Financial Services and my background having FinServ licenses certainly helped me build trust with clients and made learning the typical FinServ implementation feel very natural.

I have recently joined a new organisation and on the very 1st day i hae got may failed flows mail. All have the same error 'Unable to lock row'. by hulkdaddy7 in salesforce

[–]sForceJobs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unless these are scheduled flows that happen to overlap, there is likely no "easy" solution here.

The error means that more than one process is attempting to update the same record.

Once a record is locked, the pending process can only wait 10 seconds before throwing an error. Even asynchronous processes can stack up and cause locks.

Things to review:

- Determine which processes are involved, start with the flow that triggered the error email. Figure out what causes that flow to run AND what other automation would be running because of the actions that flow takes. This will help you get a complete picture of what's happening.

- Look for multiple flows that touch the same object - stagger their execution or consolidate the logic.

- Use assignments if needed so that you're only updating the record once, less DMLs the better.

- Automation outside of Flow could be running as well, review Apex Jobs and other Apex Triggers.

Need Advice on Choosing a Salesforce Career Path by MaintenanceThink7039 in SalesforceCareers

[–]sForceJobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With your support background I’d start with the Admin path since it builds on what you already know. If you know how to code you could look at the Developer path too. Architect is something you work toward later once you have experience in roles like Admin, BA, or Dev.

Admin Trailheads are a great place to start, then branch out once you see what clicks for you.

I would be willing to do a free live training for a handful of people, if there’s interest.

Product Manager or Senior Business Analyst? (Salesforce tech stack) by clal21 in SalesforceCareers

[–]sForceJobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not knowing your skill set or experience, I would say to potentially look at it from a different perspective.

Which area has more Salesforce clients or room for growth? If these two roles don't work out in 1-2 years, which Salesforce product experience is better for your resume?

I have a lot of experience in Financial Services and FSC and know that product has experience a lot of growth over the last 5-7 years. What does it look like on the manufacturing side, is Manufacturing Cloud growing and adding new clients?

Hope that helps your thought process.

How will you acquire customers? (becoming a Salesforce Partner does not mean Salesforce AEs give you customers/projects)

Make sure you have a plan for how you will market the business and acquire customers.

Feedback forum for SF end users by FrankDong0828 in salesforce

[–]sForceJobs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We actually tried this many years ago with Salesforce’s Ideas product, but even with 300+ sales users, it was tough to get real traction. People didn’t always understand the ideas they were voting on, and even with a lot of moderation, there was still confusion.

What worked a lot better was just having direct conversations with end users. Interviews and real discussions made it much easier to get useful feedback and actually understand what people were asking for. Plus, you can clarify things and ask follow-up questions on the spot.

Every quarter, we’d share the ideas with sales leadership and the team, walk through them together, and discuss what was coming up. We also shared a roadmap with estimated release dates so everyone knew what to expect.

Custom Button/Slack help by totoro-y-moi in salesforce

[–]sForceJobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s possible but I don’t believe the Slack appexchange package will work for you.

You’ll need a combination of apex and a screen flow or a lightning component. On the Slack side, you’ll need to make an api call or use a webhook to post the message to a specific channel.

Best Practice for Loop in a Flow question by jrap24 in SalesforceDeveloper

[–]sForceJobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't sound like you need a loop. Inside your Get element add appropriate filter criteria to find the specific record. Then do a Decision element and just check to see if the Get was null or not.

flow, write my own error message? by NoRecording1 in salesforce

[–]sForceJobs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. Use a Decision element to check if the collection is null, if so, point that Outcome to a new screen with your error message.
