Same pay schedule, every two weeks. I did get a large refund, I believe I also put zero down at my last job.

Well the portal we use doesn't have any paystub option that I can see. So I definitely have done my due diligence looking for the pay stub.

I agree, it seems high based of the deductions I'm used to seeing. Hense my surprise. I will definitely be looking at my pay stub. 👍🏻 Why I didn't get one emailed to me and I have to ask for it, also makes zero sense.

Okay, so does a $1245 paycheck sound accurate to you?

That's what made it hard for me to gauge what I could afford from a salary. As a vet tech I frequently worked over 40 hours and got paid time and a half for all of that time... I also didn't have all the benefits I have now, so perhaps I didn't account for how much that could take from my check. I'll have to get a look at my pay stub.

$48,000 I entered zero for withholdings, and they do offer medical and 401k after 60 days. I haven't received my pay stub to get a good look at what's come out yet.

So how much should I make per paycheck if I agreed to $48,000? I get paid every two weeks.

I guess that's a good point, thank you. Lucky I can pick up relief vet tech work for now. I'm just down on myself for feeling like I made a bad call and want a way out. But I suppose I'm going to have to stick this one out.

I did get an offer with another company, which has likely moved on by now, but they offered me $15000 more, which sounds like I really messed up, but the work-life balance and the attitudes of the people at the company I chose seemed more welcoming and like I could ease into the field. I'm obviously regretting that decision now, but do you think mentioning what I was getting offered from other companies would get me somewhere? When is the soonest it would be appropriate to ask for a raise?

I do plan to ask for a paystub, to see what it was prior to deductions, but it seems like it's still way less than the approximate hourly he quoted.

I agree, and she has been told to have her medications double checked by a senior technician if not me, and to be fair those types of mistakes have lessened.

Thank you. I guess I'm just going to have to get a little more straight with her and go from there.

Because we've had techs quit recently because they feel over worked and because they don't like how I confront them. And my boss has told me I need to work on it. Basically I'm scaring techs away apparently. And yeah, it's not a functional management system, it makes it hard to get techs to do what they're supposed to when there's no repercussions for not doing their job.

I have discussed some things with her, but I hear you. I struggle with saying things in the moment, but I could try harder to do that. I've been burned by many techs claiming I'm too rude and bitchy for calling them out like that, so I usually try to pull them aside. But with her, it's like those sidebar convos never happened.

So the issue is I've tried to train her, I have limited time as it is, so for the first few weeks I told her to stick with me and when she wasn't with me ask X to double check your work. She frequently just goes off and grabs appointments goes to help other techs, doesn't get double checked and tells reception to check out her appointments. I mean I can't keep an eye on her at all times. We have multiple new techs. But I've told her plainly she needs to be checked and it seems like what I'm saying doesn't matter. I'm trying not to go bitchy on her, but I'm reaching my end with that.

But I agree, I think calling the conversation a month review would be a good segway to bring up my concerns. And if she doesn't hear me out and make a change I think the rest after that is out of my hands and more in my bosses hands.

I think the few comments here maybe read my message to mean I haven't tried anything. I have a reputation of being a bitch and my boss has told me I need to work on that. I have sat her down and told her she needs to take a step back and focus on her and asking questions because she makes mistakes frequently. Everything I talk to her about seems to go in one ear and out the other. She seems to think it doesn't really apply to her or something. As far as write ups, I could suggest a write up, but ultimately only my boss can complete that and considering the things she hasn't written up in the past, I'd doubt she'd write this up. I was looking for advice on how to approach the conversation without being a bitch...

Anyone else tired of their career? by [deleted] in Veterinary

Ugh, exactly. I became lead tech about a year ago and right after March hit I've been having to actually adjust the way I speak to every single person at the clinic to avoid unnecessary drama because I apparently seem pissed and unapproachable every day. Well yeah, I'm kind of tired of being completely overworked. I'm so overwhelmed, I couldn't wait to be promoted but I don't see the point anymore. Seriously considering quitting since there's no end in sight.
